Product Specifications

Offering an unparalleled sleek design in a gloss black finish, and a quality 720p LCD panel available, Samsung's 2007 model LNT2353H 23-inch flat-panel LCD HDTV is an excellent choice for a kitchen, or small bedroom TV. Compared to the previous year's model this one offers an updated cosmetic design, a better contrast ratio at 5000:1, hidden speakers, side A/V inputs, and 2 HDMI connections.

The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe) Video Enhancer refines all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. DNIe improves contrast, white level, picture detail and incorporates digital noise reduction to improve lower quality video inputs. The 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time to dramatically reduce edge image artifacts while improving transition detail.

High-quality virtual surround sound can be experienced with just the speakers built into the TV. SRS TruSurround XT technology delivers an amazing, simulated 3D effect with clear dialog and powerful bass through hidden side speakers. TruSurround XT audio adds three audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience.

  • Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into Focus during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper.
  • TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself.
  • The SRS WOW feature widens the soundstage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.

Connections:

  • HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) 2
  • R/F in 1
  • Component (Y/Pb/Pr) in 2
  • S-Video input 2(1 side/1 rear)
  • A/V input 2(1 side/1 rear)
  • PC input 1
  • Headphone jack 1

What's in the box: Samsung LNT2353H LCD TV, remote control, 2 AAA batteries, Power Cord, wall mount kit, cleaning cloth, owners manual, warranty card.

[+] 2.0 POOR QUALITY OF PARTS
I BOUGHT THE PRODUCT FROM AMAZON. IT CAME ON TIME, AND THE PRICE WAS SUPER. I BROUGHT IT TO VENEZUELA, AND THE TV HAD AUDIO WORKING OK, BUT NO VIDEO. SAMSUNG DID NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY. IT HAS BEEN GOING FROM ONE REPAIR SHOP TO ANOTHER. IT HAS ALREADY BEEN 4 MONTHS WITHOUT THE TV. HONESTLY, IT IS A POOR QUALITY PRODUCT.
NONE OF THE SONY THAT I HAVE BOUGHT (MORE THAN 4) HAS NEVER FAILED ME.
I WILL NEVER BUY SAMSUNG AGAIN.

[+] 8.0 pretty sweet
This is a great tv for the price. It is not the biggest thing, but perfect for the bedroom. The delivery was fast and it arrived in one piece. I have no complaints. The only thing that I didn't like about the tv is that the picture gets dark when you are not viewing from directly in front. But that is the price you have to pay for a lcd and not a plasma.

Overall, great tv, great quality, great service. I would definitely purchase from this source again.

[+] 10.0 Great small HDTV
When my 10 year old big tube TV bit the dust, I knew it was time to move into the 21st century. This is a great second or third television for the bedroom. Not too big, not too small. Just the right size. Very good HD picture quality. Remote is easy to use, HDMI ports are a nice bonus for the price. The sound quality is not the best, but the controls and the input/output connections are ample and allow for almost everything needed to show through a monitor/TV screen.

[+] 8.0 Great TV with HD channels
I have only good critics regarding this device. The product arrived on time without damage. The TV works flawless since I bought it. With HD channels, the TV has a very good image. With non-HD channels, well you know ...Don't ask for too much. The speakers are good (for a TV) all the connectors are well designed.

This TV is perfect for a computer room or to watch on the side. Other Samsung product like 40 '' TV is a better choice for the family room. Good purchase.

[+] 8.0 One of the best 23" HDTVs, but it has quirks
I bought this unit shortly after it became available, in Oct 2007, and as far as I can tell, it was/is one of the very best 23" HDTVs available at the time.

What I Like:
------------

* Great picture, excellent onscreen menus, excellent contrast and brightness, and good viewing angle. Based on those four all-important criteria alone, I grudgingly gave this unit 4 stars ... despite the plethora of other nits I list below.

What I Dislike: (from most to least)
---------------

* BASE LACKS TILT/SWIVEL: The default stand for this TV has no swivel ... it cannot be turned or tilted. Combine that with the fact that although side to side viewing angle is excellent, downward and upward viewing are mediocre and poor, respectively. That can be a real annoyance if you watch TV in bed, and the height of table upon which you place this unit is less than ideal. I was lucky, and my table height was fortuitously just right. If this unit came with a decent base, I'd probably have given it 5 stars instead of 4.

* PIP LACKS 2nd TUNER: This unit advertises it's PIP capability, but you don't discover until you buy it and open the manual that the unit only has one tuner, making it extremely awkward to utilize that capability ... and to do it, you have to sacrifice one of your two HDMI inputs to get decent quality. So yes, it has PIP capability, but not really. It's unfortunately a commonplace problem with many makes and models of TVs. More on that below.

* ONLY 2 HDMI PORTS: Why only 2 HDMI jacks ? I already know the answer to that, but it's still frustrating from a consumer standpoint ... it's because the HDMI interface is still new and copyrighted technology, and because manufacturers have to pay royalties, it's too costly to include too many HDMI inputs. That will change when the patents eventually expire. In the meantime, as of this writing, only the most expensive units include 3 or 4. The problem with having only 2 ? Follow along grasshopper ... first you hook up high-def cable, and then you hook up your DVD/blueray, and then ... whoops ... no more inputs. Coises ! Hie thee to the local electronics store, and buy an HDMI switchbox (yet another remote for your crowded table) in order to hook up your up converting VCR, Sony PS3, XBox360, PIP capability (which you'll still need a separate HiDef tuner for), etc. Meanwhile, feel free to stare in annoyance at all those obsolete downward-compatible low-def connections that still jam-pack the sides and back of the TV ... scads of RCA jacks, Composite Video, S-Video, and Coaxial inputs and outputs. All of it WASTED SPACE to those who've made the leap to HighDef.

* RESOLUTION (720P vs. 1080i): Ok, this item is not the manufacturer's fault, but I'll report it anyway. Everywhere, retail ads abound for 23" HDTVs (like this one) sporting 1080i, and it's a deliberate half-truth, if not a downright lie. I experienced first hand how unscrupulous retailers go out of their way to avoid telling you that HDTVs of this size are all currently 720p. They accept 1080i signals, granted, but they still only display them at 720p. Always pay careful attention to retail advertising vs actual manufaturer specifications on things like this.

* REMOTE: Minor nit - I found the remote to be rather clunky, and some of the buttons seem redundant.

* SOFTWARE UPDATE: A minor nit on a little used festure - this TV includes a USB port for uploading software updates, but I had all sorts of problems when I visited Samsung's website to check if my TV actually needed one. The manual was unhelpful, and the website had numerous glitches and problems with popups and browser compatibility. I'll probably never go back there.

[+] 10.0 Great Product!!
I had gotten an XBOX 360 for Christmas and had been forced to play it on my old tube tv. After a while it just wasnt enough. Decided to purchase this TV and have not regretted it. Item was shipped fast got it in 2 business days from when it shipped. Hooked the item up to everything and was very pleased to find out that i could still use my old antenna from the tube tv and pick up digital channels. Picture looks great just needs some small adjustments at first.

[+] 8.0 if only it had a 2-prong plug
It's the first LCD/HDTV I've owned and I have to say I'm very pleased with it. I do not watch alot of TV -- and the only thing with any regularity would be NBA basketball, so I'm not hung up on every little aspect, but as far as getting it out of the box, set up, and watching it, I have to say I'm very pleased with my purchase. The ONLY reason I don't give it 5 stars is because of the darn plug being a 3-prong plug instead of a 2-prong plug making it impossible for me to plug it directly into my HDTV box and necessitating my having to use two remotes (the Samsung one to turn it on and adjust the volume and the HDTV one to change channels). I'm not sure if I would have known about this issue ahead of time if I would have still purchased it - I HATE having a coffee table full of remotes. Other than that, I'm happy with the purchase and the price.

[+] 8.0 Good product
This TV has great picture and more inputs/outputs than most others like it. Definitely go with the 23" over the 19". If you go look at them at your local Best Buy, you will see that the 19" is just too small. I had to send back my first tv because of a line of dead pixels running from top to bottom that showed up after a few days. Amazon was great with the exchange process. They even had UPS come pick up the other one for free.

[+] 8.0 Great 23in HDTV for a small room
Best Buy had a special on the 2353H and I bought it for my younger sister since she watches TV on a tiny 8 inch tube and it angers me everytime I see her watching shows in it. I could've gotten a larger HDTV for a slightly higher price but Samsung has a good LCD picture quality plus the viewing distance is short. Unfortunately the local Best Buy didn't have it in stock so I had them ordered me one which took about a week. The TV stand is not attached so very minor assembly is required. I hooked up a Toshiba HD-A3 HD-DVD player to it via HDMI and calibrated the screen and I was done. She was really surprised to see a new HDTV in her room.
The black bezel frame of the Samsung matches her room as well as the HD-DVD player. Picture quality on standard channels are ok but the HDTV stations just blows them away. The remote is easy to use and even lights up if its too dark in the room. There is a wide range of video/audio settings for a HDTV this size. The sound is just right...no need to crank it up. Downside is that the viewing angle is so-so.

PROs:2 HDMI inputs, nice black bezel, range of calibration settings, good sound and picture quality.

CONs: Viewing angle isn't the best.

[+] 10.0 Great Set For the Money
When my 14 year old TV bit the dust recently I figured it was time to move into the 21st century and get an HDTV. Due to space considerations the only criteria the new set had to meet was the width - it couldn't exceed 25.5".

I researched models made by Sharp, Vizio, LG and Samsung that met this requirement and decided on the Samsung LN-T2353H...and I couldn't be more pleased! The picture quality is superb. Granted this was my first experience with High Def TV but I really can't see how any comparably priced TV could look any better.

The set comes out of the box with three pre-set viewing "Modes". STANDARD - which I use and looks just fine to me, DYNAMIC - which brightens the picture a bit too much for my liking, and MOVIE - which darkens the picture slightly to supposedly match that of a movie. Pressing the appropriate button on the remote control lets the viewer compare each Mode. Once the viewer chooses the Mode he or she prefers it's fairly simple to tweak the settings to individual taste.

A pleasant surprise was the sound quality. The speakers are mounted on the bottom of the unit thereby reducing the overall width. While only rated at 3 watts per speaker they sound surprisingly rich and well balanced. The "TruSurround" feature is especially noticeable when watching sporting events. It really has the effect of making the viewer feel in the middle of the event.

I also like the sleek design of this TV. The finish is described as glossy piano black and it looks really nice. Because the finish does tend to attract dust Samsung smartly enclosed an anti-static dust cleaning cloth in the box. A minor point but thoughtful nonetheless.

The manual is fairly straightforward and all the connections - both rear and side panel - are well marked and easy to get at. On the advice of a friend who knows more about these things than I do, I connected my Cable Box to the TV using an HDMI cable. This enables a higher quality video and audio signal to be transmitted through one cable as opposed to seperate wire for each. (For those who prefer this option a 15' length of HDMI cable can be found on Amazon for approximate $10; Radio Shack sells a 12' piece for $47!)

The only "complaints" I have about this set are very minor. One is the remote control is a bit larger than than most I've seen and the many buttons on it are REALLY small. The other involves the viewing angle. Samsung's ads state the picture remains sharp up to 170 degrees both horizontally and vertically. This may be overstating it a bit but then how many people watch their TV at such an uncomfortable viewing angle.

All in all I am thrilled with my first HDTV. I think this model is a great alternative when size is a consideration or your wallet can't afford one of the 1080p sets.

This TV is great. I purchased it for a kitchen shelf and the picture is beautiful. I am surprised how clear it is without a cable box. I was merely looking for a black TV that had the dimensions this one does and I am extremely satisfied with the picture quality and it is great looking too.

I ordered this TV while on holiday out of the country and was afraid I was going to have to return it because it wouldn't be big enough. It's an excellent size for a bedroom TV though! Picture is great, I tried it with a DVD through XBox 360 and also with a game, and loved the display. I can really notice the HD.

[+] 10.0 Excellent quality HDTV
This set has a fantastic picture and great sound. I was surprised at how well I could see the LCD screen, even with sunlight flowing in the room. The picture is larger than I thought it would be. The contrast ratio and backlighting is outstanding. There are multiple settings for the sound, such as virtual surround and automatic volume control. I have this particular set in the bedroom and it works great. It's perfect for a smaller room or anywhere the TV is positioned fairly close. I would highly recommend this product to friends.

[+] 10.0 Samsung HDTV LN-T2353H
I bought mine a month ago, and love this set. The picture is crisp and clear on my cable system. The sound is clear with surprisingly pretty good tonal quailty. Plus it is plenty loud enough to fill my room with sound, with more volume adjustment to spare. Styling is sleek, and futuristic. I use my set primarily to watch cable tv in the bedroom, and dvd movies. I believe this HDTV is one of the best performers in it's price range. It has many nice features that you will like that many of the other brands do not seem to offer.

My dislikes which are quite minor, and opinionated are:

1)The remote control could be layed out in a more ergonomic friendlier way.

2)The optional channel selection menu that you can view on the screen should retain the channel id's rather than just the number representation for easier identification.

3)The size of the presently viewing information screen could be larger for us middle aged people. ("Hated to amit to this!").

My bottom line critque: This HDTV was better than what I had expected, and I would have no problem recommending it to a friend.

[+] 8.0 Hi Def in a Small Package
We wanted to upgrade our bedroom TV to hi-def after we switched from cable to DirecTV (LOTS more HiDef stations), but our wall unit presented a serious challenge when it came to size. The Samsung LNT2353H 23" LCD HDTV fit our limited space perfectly... and met our expectations nicely. The picture quality is excellent (though the factory settings are a bit over-contrasty... VERY easy to correct). Set-up took less than five minutes. Sound is surprisingly good in such a small TV (speakers are in front), and the design is pretty sleek. Amazon's price was the lowest we found anywhere, and they happened to be offering free delivery at that time, so we really felt we had a winner when we selected it, and we're sure now that we have it.

[+] 6.0 Disappointing overall
Bought this TV for the bedroom, upgrading from a 20" CRT.

The set itself looks great, even though I'm not a big fan of the piano black gloss. Easy setup, light, functional. Attracts dust like Pig Pen. Annoying blue light and on/off sound easy to disable in the setup menu.

Picture looks absolutely great from straight-ahead, but the viewing angles are somewhat poor. It's noticeably less bright when viewed off-angle horizontally (I'd say past 35-40 degrees either way). And when viewed from below (i.e, sitting on the floor watching the TV) the colors/image are completely washed to the point of not being able to see anything. Very poor vertical viewing angle. Keep that in mind if you are mounting this set or otherwise watching from below.

Buttons on the right front side of the set (power, channel, volume, input) are hard to decipher and strangely placed. Very easy to accidentally press them if you grab the TV to move or swivel it (not that it has a swivel - why do almost no TVs under 32" have a built in swivel stand? Not everyone mounts TVs.)

Maybe it's my set, but I'm disappointed overall. I have a 40" Sony Bravia in the living room and I guess I am spoiled by that TV, but I was expecting more from the Samsung. Viewing angle turned out to be much more of a factor for me than I thought. I really wanted a 23" set, it was the perfect size for my room, but there's not much else in that size range. I'm returning it for a 26" Sony KDL-26M3000, which gets good marks for viewing angle (saw it at a local BB and picture was sharp from all angles). The Sony is more expensive, but I seem to be getting a good deal on it so it's really not that much more than the Samsung was.

[+] 4.0 Picture ok-controls are weird
I have no complaints about the picture since I'm not a big tv watcher. I had to return the 1st set to Amazon because the manual controls on the front of the TV didn't work. Samsung wanted me to pay the shipping cost and return the TV to them. When I balked, they said to send it back to Amazon. Amazon was amazing - they sent me a replacement before the first set was even picked up, and they paid for shipping.
The second set is better, but the on/off control only works some of the time. It is so frustrating to have to find the remote control to turn it on when you're sitting 3 feet away. Anyone else have this problem?

I don't like the fact that you can't see the manual controls - they're not buttons, just raised icons that are the molded into the screen frame. I'm trying to "read" them with my finger tips. The other problem is the display on the screen which I use when the room is dark. The text is very small and at 3:00 a.m., I don't want to turn on the light or get my glasses, as I might actually wake up.

Slick little LCD TV. However, if you're thinking of using it via VGA connection with a recent Sony Vaio laptop, beware that it does not work. Samsung says there's a Sony firmware update fix and links to Sony, but the link just provides updates, and Sony says there is no update to solve this problem. If anyone know how to resolve this problem, please add a comment. Samsung has not responded to my email request for assistance.

[+] 8.0 pretty well satisfied with purchase
I was looking for a smaller LCD HDTV to support my new "HDTV" cablebox in the kitchen and so I read as much information available on the internet. This model had very good reviews. Overall, it's a great product and generally, you get what you pay for.

A couple of negative things not specific to the brand but just my observation based on my only previous experience with CRT televisions just to keep in mind. Everything else was great and positive. HDTV is incredible technology.

1. Sizing Perception. While LCDs are slimmer, you will need a larger monitor to replace you existing CRT size. I had a 13" CRT television and my new LCD HDTV 23" image size looks only "just a bit" larger while the wall space taken by up by the LCD is much larger.

2. Viewable angle. LCD TVs have a limited range of view because of technology. If your used to LCD TVs already, you know. I have my TV higher up near the ceiling. But if you're directly under the LCD TV, you can barely see the image. It's a limit of LCD but certainly very good for this TV based on other reviews.

3. Startup. It takes a while for the picture to come on. Only about 4-6 seconds, some say 9 seconds, I don't think that long but since I've been trained over the years by CRTs to wait 2-3 seconds, it seems long but not at all annoying.

4. Picture Sharpness. I went to a retailer to view different screens. Not a product push, but I personally think the Sony Bravia series wins all other consumer based televisions hands down. Of course you will probably pay a premium for that visual sharpness. I thought the Samsung held it's own against all other HDTV LCD manufacturers I looked at. The reason I bought Samsung.

5. Backlight. While you can adjust backlight, contrast, brightness, and sharpness on the settings, in daylight the LCD TV is darker than CRT. I'm not sure if its specific to LCD TVs in general or this model.

Buying suggestions:

Once you buy an HDTV, regular TV seems mushy or muddy. So there'll be adjustment to going back and forth between old and new. You'll never want to go back, but if you have a lot of TVs in your home, there'll be a hefty price point to replace all TVs with HDTVs. Since everyone will be converting in 2009-2010???, might want to think about what you need to do.

I suggest you go to a variety of retailers to view different models from the same manufacturers and different manufacturers before purchase.

Finally, I had a hard time connecting up everything. I pride myself on being pretty good about figuring things out without "reading the instructions". You'll need to read instructions if you don't already own an HDTV LCD. It took me a couple store runs to get the cables to accommodate the cable company requirements for viewing HDTV with cable.

[+] 8.0 Dinette TV
This was purchased to replace an old 13" TV I was using in the dinette. It fits nicely on the counter. I have a raised 24" cabinet in the center and it fits the width and height nicely. It has a great picture and the audio is ok. I'm happy with it for the price. Amazon was right on time with the two day delivery. This would also make a good TV for a bedroom. Lot's of connections and could easily be hooked up to a surround sound system. Includes an optical audio out. Some reviewers complained about a difficult set up with the menu's. I did not find it particularly difficult. If you can program an old VCR you can handle this.

[+] 10.0 Samsung 23inch HDTV
I was looking for an HDTV for a limited space, so size was important. I went and looked many within-the-range and general specificatios, and then checked the reviews if available. The samsung lcds just blew me away! I also have a 24" samsung monitor that is to die for.
I had a 100lb CRT in the old space and when hooking up wires or (god forbid) moving it, was a nightmare.
The built in tuners and off air HD is great as well. The appearance is elegant and recent reports show the new crop of lcd/plasma tvs offer great reliability. What's not to like?

[+] 10.0 Great TV
-Aside from the goofy start-up /shut-down sound it makes (thankfully an easy menu change takes care of this menace), it is a great addition to my small apartment.
-The Amazon.com price beat the giant area retailers easily... one store by $150!!
-Setup was easy too: Just plug and play! At first glance, 1/6th of the back are various connections: enough to make anyone's head spin. But everything is well labeled to accomadate even the techphobic out there.
-I really like the look of the TV without the speakers pointing at me: the sound quality is even better than my old TV (or maybe it's because it is old!) The picture quality is great: I do not have HD cable or satellite, but if I did, I'm sure I'd be in bliss.

[+] 10.0 Bought it based on these reviews and not let down!
I read all the reviews on the Samsung LNT2353H, which eventually convinced me to buy it myself. I was in the need of a serious upgrade from my old traditional 20" TV, and knew I wanted an HD flat screen because of the gaming consoles I planned to buy soon too, and I read that HD games on the XBOX360 look amazing on this TV--and I wasn't let down. This TV definitely lives up to all of its positive reviews: very sexy look, easy to set up, amazing quality picture AND beautiful sound. It picks up broadcast and cable channels that are broadcast in HD automatically, so immediately my regular TV viewing was so much more beautiful. It has lots of nifty modes and options to customize your viewing and listening experience, e.g. the Game Mode and Movie Mode. It's fairly light, it's bright, and the price is just right! (well--it's actually a sweet deal: thanks Amazon for an affordable piece for a piece of top-notch technology!) Oh and the fact that it can serve as a monitor for my laptop and/or desktop sealed the deal for me.

[+] 10.0 So far, so good
Got this TV on Amazon Prime a little more than a week ago. Also bought a Sony Bravia at the same time for a different use. The Samsung works great...gets a good high def picture. The non high def seems a little blurry when viewed up close, but that could just be the effect of being spoiled by the high def or being too close to the screen. I programmed the TV and cable to adjust the picture size automatically for wide screen high def and non wide screen non high def because I hate stretched pictures.

Our new Sony Bravia is not hooked up to high def and its remote has a nice function button which toggles between wide and standard screen, a function the Samsung has less conveniently buried in its onscreen menu (but which the case of our Samsung we do not need). I think the menu and navigation in general are a little clearer and more elegant on the Sony. I am not sure I would choose the Samsung if you do not have high def...might go with a Sony. But for our use in our kitchen (watching the Red Sox!!!)with the high def, we absolutely love the Samsung.

[+] 10.0 Great buy
Browsed a lot before settling on this model which Amazon had at a great price. Picture is excellent which we were expecting but the audio was the real surprise. Transforms one's television experience. Instructions weren't great ie it took an evening of frustration before all elements were connected properly ie cable box and dvr and wireless headphones.

[+] 10.0 A bit expensive... but this is one smokin' LCD!
When my 20" CRD in the kitchen blew out, I was completely shocked that a "future compatible" LCD HDTV could cost 600 bucks. After several months of shopping for the best product for the money, and then agonizing over the cost... I finally bit on this Samsung.

After plugging it in, I was up and running in no-time flat... and it took about 5 minutes to convince me that this was money well spent. Don't waste your time considering the cheaper alternatives. This LCD's picture is OUTSTANDING, even in the bright window-lit kitchen where I've mounted it. The sound is also quite good, considering the compact packaging of the built-in speakers. All-in-all, you'll be hard pressed to find anything that beats it at this price point.

Well done Samsung... and well-done Amazon on your competive pricing!

I also recommend the matching Peerless Articulating LCD Wall Arm for LCD Screens - (Item SA740P). I shopped a bunch of local electronics stores, and this one is the top of the food chain. Amazon has about the best deal you'll find on this anywhere!

[+] 8.0 Reviewers are correct, this is a great TV
This is my first LCD TV and I recommend it to people who want a small one at a low price. The HD is what I hoped it would be and no trouble to hook up by the Comcast people.

[+] 10.0 Not necessarily a good idea to wait.
Not that the numbers matter, but the contrast ratio on this one is 4000 to 1, not 5000 to 1 as reported at one point in Amazon's description. The main reason to consider this one ahead of the somewhat less expensive 23" 42H model, is style. The speakers are in the bottom rather than on the sides, allowing Samsung to trim the width by a few inches as well as lighten the weight by a few pounds. In fact, the thinner picture frame of the 23" 53H gives the image the illusion of being almost the same size as the 26" 42H, which uses side-firing speakers and a wider surrounding frame.

Since the bedroom is fairly small and on the top floor, the 53H 23" was the solution in my case. I wish I had trusted my initial instinct because as I was watching the computer screen, Amazon increased the price of this model by ten bucks. Compared to my stylish and highly praised Sony MFM-HT 20" (8.7 stars from C-Net) that appeared a year ago, then inexplicably disappeared from the U.S. market within several months, the Samsung has a "deeper" picture and fuller-frequencied sound. But the Sony's picture is brighter. You can tweak the brightness, of course, but it's a shame Samsung took such a dim view of things when making the factory settings.

One caveat: If you're replacing a 20" tube set and plan to view most transmitted television signals in accurately proportioned 4:3 ratio, you may sense that the image of the 23" LCD is smaller than the old 20" set. I've grown accustomed to viewing everything in 16:9, which fills the wide screen but at the cost of undeniable distortion. If you're especially fastidious about a balanced, symmetrical image, it may make sense to opt for the next bigger size.

[+] 4.0 Just OK
I own the Samsung LNS4096D 40 inch. The picture quality is suberb. I realized that the LNT2353H televion was NOT 1080p but I expected it to be much better than it was. I adjusted the contrast, brightness, sharpness, etc. until the cows came home. It was still very dark and grainy. Bottom line, I returned.

[+] 10.0 Great Value for the Price
LCD has exceptional precise, sharp, bright picture and very true color. Great surround sound feature from the internal speakers. Very easy to setup first time with Cox HD-DVR unit and HDMI cable. Great value for the price. Best picture of any TV I have seen for the size. Excellent 23" slimline styling makes it great for a bedroom or study. Very pleased with my purchase and would recommend it highly. So spoiled after watching it, I hardly watch my older 57" rear screen HDTV.

[+] 10.0 GREAT TV WITH AMAZING PICTURE
I really like this TV. The picture is great and it has so many amazing options to customize. Best of all it has it's own HD tuner so even if you don't subscribe to HDTV channels it can pick some up via a built in antenna and you can really tell the difference. It has a number of ports/hook-ups for easy access. We have ours mounted to the wall on a swivel mount and it works great.

[+] 10.0 Samsung LCD TV
Received the TV six days after I ordered it. The TV was well packed and arrived with no problem. Unpacked the TV read the instructions, did include very clear instructions, connected the TV, serviced the remote and bingo the set worked. Used the instructions to setup the viewing channels and have enjoyed exellent viewing ever since. Exellent service, exellent product, very good operating instructions so I am very well pleased. At the present time I am viewing standard TV but next month, August, I will be receiving HD TV so it might be even better then. Have a good day.

[+] 10.0 Excellent TV with Small Quirks
Let me start off by saying that this is a beautiful television set. The inputs and features outperform any other 32" set on the market with 3 HDMI, 2 component and a DVI port, all of which are HDCP compliant and display in all their 1080p glory. HD-DVDs and XBox 360 games look incredible. There is no perceivable lag for games when using the side inputs with "Vyper Mode." Even standard-def TV looks good if you set it not to stretch the picture out. I also use it as a computer monitor and it looks incredible. One huge advantage of this TV is the ability to have separate AV Modes for each input. So you can have a custom profile for each input, or it will remember that your DVD player uses the "Movie" mode and your XBox uses the "Game" mode.

This TV does have a few drawbacks though, especially as a computer monitor. The TV constantly tries to adjust the color depending whats on the screen, even on "PC" or "User" AV Mode (those modes are supposed to disable that "feature"). For games and movies this isn't noticeable though.

Despite the color adjusting "feature" this is one of the best TVs I have ever seen. I highly recommend it, especially if using it for a computer monitor isn't a major requirement.
