[+] 10.0 Perfect Expendable Running Partner
So yeah, it's not really asthetically pleasing, but for the price you can't really beat it. I bought this so that I could have an MP3 player that I could run with without (1) worrying that I was going to destroy $200+ dollars worth of electronics with sweat/rain/snow/accidental dropping, and (2) worrying that oops I didn't re-charge the battery before a run. It is perfect for these two things. It has been through rain, 90+ temps, snow and anything else I can dish out for two years and it still works great. A few downsides.....the FM tuner is pretty much useless, the snaps on the armband rust after awhile, it's impossible to find a replacement armband, and it could really use some more space. If you are looking at this product for running I'd say go for it, but get the model with a bit more space. If you hate it or destroy it after a few months you are only out 25 bucks.

[+] 10.0 Why pay more for anything else?
At the risk of sounding cheap, I wasn't about to go to the gym with a hundred dollar ipod around my arm. With ipods getting stolen all the time I wanted something at a fraction of the cost but didn't sacrifice what I got with an ipod. This MP3 player is perfect for that. Its super cheap and does exactly what it should...play music. Sure, cycling through songs is a pain, but if you make yourself a playlist beforehand it should be a non issue. The headphones are terrible, but every MP3 player comes with bad headphones so its hard to rip this product for that. It also comes with the arm strap so once you take this out of the packaging and drag some music onto it you're ready to go.

[+] 10.0 MP3 Review
I purchased this Mp3 player as a result of my old one suddenly breaking on me. All I can say is that I am very impressed with the overall quality and ease of use that this player provides. I wouldn't change a thing about it and I will be looking to this manufacturer first the next time I'm in the market.

It's very easy to add songs and is great for running. It's very light and small, so it's easy to run with it in your hand (I didn't like the arm strap/holder it came with).

[+] 10.0 What a Deal!
Bought it on sale for my brother. Works great and even has an FM tuner (My iPod doesn't even have that) It is compact and has plenty of volume. Being over fifty, however, my bro has trouble reading the display. For only ten bucks, it was a great deal.

[+] 10.0 Totally amazing
I converted all the tunes I put in it, to smaller WMA files so I can cram a ton of stuff in it & have it still sound good.

The earphones are good & comfortable for the price.

A 900mha rechargeable AAA cell lasts 7-10 hours of heavy continuous use. Using it a few hours a day so the little AAA cell gets a break, it'll give a runtime of around 20 hours total. Carrying a spare tiny AAA cell is no big deal, or you can buy another cell at just about any store in the world real cheap if you run low on power.

Preset & custom equalizer settings are great. FM Radio reception & quality is above average for a small player of this type. It has plenty of presets for your favorite FM stations... If only they made mini players with AM tuners too.

I'd like to see a solar powered version of this someday, that recharges the rechargeable AAA cell by placing it in a window. Perhaps one with an LED flashlight in it as well.

The odd shaped player is really tiny, & can be easily carried around in a pocket. Very rarely do the buttons get accidentally bumped in my pocket.

It's extremely easy to use. Also easy to load, or delete files via the USB port.

It's been banged around & abused a lot, & still runs perfectly.

I just had a fire last spring & lost almost everything. It was exposed to extreme heat, steam, hot wood sap, & wound up under charred debris, ashes, & water. After I cleaned & dried it out, it still runs great, & looks almost new.

Unlike most mini players, this amazing little baby has enough power to plug UNPOWERED, UNAMPLIFIED, speakers into it. It won't play the speakers loud, but louder than any mini-player can run a speaker with no amplifier/booster... all on a single AAA cell. Enough to enjoy background music in an average sized quiet room without being tethered to headphones.

I use a set of Phillips mini speakers for mine. But have plugged it into the big amp & sound systems at work... The folks think I'm playing a quality CD, & are surprised to see it's that little thing playing all those songs.

It out performs my new Motorola W490 cell phone player in all categories as a player. The phone isn't loud enough, hard to find headphone & audio adapters for, & won't power a speaker directly much. The phone also won't play WMA files. So even though my phone has 2.2gb of memory, I can cram more tunes in this player, because the WMA files are so much smaller to still sound good.

I'm so happy, I'm here today to buy the other SanDisk player with the bigger memory.

[+] 8.0 Good MP3 player for the price
Simple to use, no faults as yet (have owned and used it for 5 weeks). The size (512 MB) is small, but holds 100 songs which is plenty for a few days. It is easy to upload songs, no special software required. The only problem I've noticed is the connection to the headphones is a little loose, if I'm walking with it I need to be careful where I put it or else the connection comes and goes.

[+] 8.0 A Great Value
I have been wanting to replace my old portable cd player for various reasons to save money on blank cds and batteries so I ordered this mp3 player for me and my wife. I got it home popped a battery in it hooked it to my computer which recognized it instantly took a couple of songs and put it on it works perfectly. The only thing I would recommend is a better pair of ear buds the ones they send hurt your ears a little bit and aren't the best sound quality although it isn't bad.

Love this MP3. Purchased as a gift because my son has a similar model. My son is 8, the gift was purchased for a 13 year old birthday gift. They both love it, can use it themselves and don't need a computer or special cord to recharge it. It runs on a AAA battery.

[+] 10.0 Cheap and satisfactory
I purchased this thing for like $20 and though it doesn't hold much music it is perfectly sufficient for the cost. I bought it mainly just to have some music for a 3-month long trip living in the middle of nowhere. It worked perfectly well and the battery lasted as long as one might expect in my opinion. Good buy.

My first try at an MP3 player. It is not intuitive to work the controls but fooling around will get it working. The instuction CD is small and will only fit on a player with a center post. I found one on a laptop I have but other then that it would have been useless for me.

[+] 8.0 starter mp3 player
I was a little nervous about getting my first mp3 player but I was very pleased with this one. I wanted to download audio books to listen at work and in the car. The controls are basic and easy to use and it holds two average length books and some music. It connected to my computer fairly easily. I know I am way behind the curve but this was a good place to start.

[+] 8.0 Solid device
Wonderful device. Plays wma, mp3, and radio with good fidelity. It was exactly what I wanted except for two annoyances. Also, the instructions seem to indicate that having a USB plug serve as an antenna will help with radio reception. I have found it just as good without.

1) When playing through my car's audio system, I have to turn the car's volume all the way up.

2) Would be nice if I could play with an external power source (like my car) instead of running off batteries all the time.

[+] 8.0 Great for kids
I bought 2 of these for my 9yr old sons. They work well, are pretty durable, and have easy to use menus for both the kids any my wife. The only Downside to the player is the power supply, You will run though a number of AAA batteries with this player (buy a charger and set of AAA's to go with it). as most 9yr olds will forget to turn it off. Outside of that a pretty handy player getting music on to the player is easy as well since most of the music for the kids I sync through the Windows media player.
Reviewer [A3EZGPIJTJ5T4B] | Date [May 8, 2008]
[+] 8.0 Good enough for me
I have had this for a year or two, and I am quite satisfied. I don't have a large number of songs to listen to (although there are about 17 of them that I am trying to get), so the memory amount is plenty. The function in which, if the music is paused or stopped, and no buttons are pushed for 30 seconds, it automatically shuts off, can be annoying sometimes if I pause my music to have a conversation with someone and it turns off during that time. However, it has saved my battery power a few times.

Pros:
--> Runs on 1 AAA battery
--> Comes with everything necessary to use it (except the battery)
--> Cheaper than iPods
--> Easier to put songs on it than on an iPod
Can be transferred from Windows Media Player
Or directly by moving the music file to the file folder
--> Smaller than iPod in terms of length and width
--> About the same length as iPod nano, and still smaller in width

Cons:
--> Very limited memory (512 MB), though there is another one with 2 GB
--> Thicker than an iPod
--> You might want a different pair of headphones, I don't like the ones it came with
--> No features other than music
--> Annoying auto-shut down (see above)

I would recommend this to anyone who likes listening to music while traveling, but does not have a huge number of songs they need to put on it.

[+] 10.0 Great little player for the money!
This is a great little MP3 player for the money spent! If you are looking for a simple MP3 player that has minimal gadgetry and maximum efficiency then this is probably what you would want. I bought one of these originally when I was looking/researching for an MP3 player to use while walking and this fit the bill! I liked it so much that I have since bought 3 more! My only complaint would be that you have to use batteries instead of charging it by way of USB cable, but that is a small price to pay for the value you gain! Has FM radio, plays both WMA and MP3 files, has good sound quality, also works well with a WMA/MP3 FM Modulator in the car.

[+] 10.0 I like it, I like it a lot
For $20 it's one of the best purchases I've ever made. I spent hours on Amazon looking for an affordable MP3 player. After reading some of the reviews and for the price I picked this one. It works as well as my iPod, but it's smaller and easier to carry. It holds just enough music, very easy to add and remove music files. Also I have Vista and it works perfectly. The display is very nice and the options are great. Hard to believe it was only $20. I get a few radio stations on the FM tuner, no complaints.

[+] 8.0 Great for kids
Just bought this MP3 player for my son for his 7th birthday. His older sister has the 1 GB model. He loves it and holds more than enough songs for him, considering his age. Easy, never asks how to do anything and keeps him busy for any car trips. I guess the only complaint I would have is the singing we hear coming from the backseat!

[+] 10.0 Great for Travel and Home Use
I bought this because it was so darn cheap, and expected it to break within 6 months because I have a bad habit of constantly dropping electronics. I've dropped it many, many times, and my trusty Sansa has never let me down! I've had it for over a year now, and I took it backpacking around Europe for a month and it was PERFECT. It has a sleep timer so I could fall asleep on the trains without draining the battery. It holds enough music so that I never got tired of the songs, and it is very durable. When I'm at home, it's perfect for going to the gym and going running.

It's certainly not as compact as, say, an iPod shuffle, but it's also about $60 less and performs a much greater range of functions. It shuffles albums, repeats songs, and is very user friendly. What a great mp3 player! I got an iPod nano because it came free with the MacBook, and my dad immediately snapped up my Sansa because the type was big enough that he didn't have to use reading glasses. So I guess this player also transcends age gaps. This is a great mp3 player, because of both its amazing price and its great quality. I love it! I'm traveling internationally in the near future, and intend on borrowing it back from my dad because it uses batteries instead of a charger so I don't have to worry about plug compatibility or accessibility. I very highly recommend the Sansa!
