[+] 10.0 Easy to use straight from the box
I have a Sandisk Sansa e200 MP3 player. I bought this dock 2 years ago. This device made it very easy to turn my MP3 player into a mini stereo to use in my kitchen. The dock cradles the MP3 player snugly and has a remote control that allows me to change the volume, radio stations or mp3 songs from across the room. The sound quality depends on the speakers you use. I use a pair of computer speakers from one of my old computers. Its very compact and sounds GREAT. You can achieve the same set up without this dock, but the dock charges the mp3 player and allows you to quickly grab the mp3 player to use on a walk or in another room where you have another set of computer type speakers, ear buds or headphones.

[+] 10.0 Great product for the purpose
I have had this item for over 6 months. I love it. I have to players and change them without issues. I have it connected to my home entertainment system and it sounds great. I use a universal remote that is programmed to control the home system and player. It forwards and pauses and playes and adjust the volume. It also charges. For a simple eligate solution to connect your player to a home stereo this cannot be beat.

[+] 10.0 Great little unit for my simple needs.
Hooked it up to the family room stereo, put a couple thousand of my favorite tunes on the Sansa, set the Sansa on "shuffle" and "repeat," and turn it on whenever there's nothing on TV.

Remote works fine from across the room and through the glass of the stereo cabinet.

Unit fits well right beside the receiver - takes up *very* little space.

You might want to make sure the mp3's you put on the Sansa for use with the dock are high bit rate - I have some that I ripped with as high quality as possible and some I didn't, and I can tell the difference through the stereo speakers. Obviously this is not a slur on the dock or the Sansa - just a piece of information.

[+] 10.0 Everything I Wanted
I bought this after reading the reviews that described exactly what I was looking for. And, I haven't been disappointed in the least. I wanted something that would allow me to connect my Sana Fuze to my stereo system and it does tbat perfectly and effortlessly. It comes with the cable required and in a few minutes I had it connected and enjoying all my music over my amplified sysem and over my Bose speaker system...and I can sit back with the small remote and relax. Wow...it's everything I wanted!!

[+] 8.0 SanDisk Docking Station
This is a great device and works pretty much as advertised. It provides charging for the unit as well as the audio connections to an external sound system. It also has a USB port for syncing with a computer, but I don't use that feature because the workstation is on the other side of the room from my audio system. The docking sttion also comes with a small remote which gives you the usual play-pause-skip functions as well as volume control. Installation was easy and straightforward and so far the unit has been working consistently and reliably.

[+] 8.0 Sandisk docking station
I purchased this docking station as a way to still play my music from my CD collection when my CD Jukebox started to have problems with playing the CDs. It is not easy to find a multi CD player on the market any longer.

I like the design and simplicity of the docking station. It looks good and works well once you figure out what is needed to be done to hook it up. Like most items of this sort, documentation is less than good.

However, after getting it hooked up and running, I am overall pleased with it. The only negative is that you cannot have it hooked up to both the PC and Stereo at the same time. If you want to play it thru the stereo, you have to disconnect the USB jack from the computer. If you want to transfer files, you have to disconnect the power cord since the power comes thru the USB connection from the PC (I think).

As I have it tucked into a tight space, this plugging and unplugging is very inconvenient. I would recommend that they have a small button on the front for the next generation release that will allow you to switch from stereo to PC mode without having to disconnect cables.

The remote control is small and has basic functions only but is nice in that it does not have to have the door open to work.

Overall, I am happy with it.

[+] 10.0 works fine and is worth the money
I got this for 2 reasons, to charge the sansa with out a PC, and to use a better hook up to my stereo. One thing that didn't seem clear in the reviews was if it comes with a wall plug or not, and yes it does. So you don't need a computer. It hooked up easily to my stereo, and I think gives better sound than just pluging into the earpiece jack.
The remote works, ok pretty limited thought. It's not going to do the same as a $200+ Ipod dock, but it does simple things. I would have like to spend a few more dollors and got to do more things with the remote, it wont let you choose albums. you can fast foreward, reverse, or volume.
I gave it 5 stars because of price/functionability (sp?) If it cost more and had the limited remote features I would have gave it less stars
It also comes with 2 bases for the different sansa models. It seems well made it came with the needed cables to hook to me stereo.

[+] 10.0 Sansa Base Station is just what I was hoping for
It took less than five minutes to connect the base station to my stereo and it's everything that was advertised. I had to mess with the equalizer on my stereo and my e260 , but the sound is great. I didn't find any problems with the remote either. I did not find that you had to point it directly at the base station. I turned my back to the base station and pointed the remote away from it at about 30 feet away and it worked just fine. I give the unit five stars because it is exactly what was advertised and works just great.

[+] 2.0 Order Cancelled Without Explanation
We already have this unit for another player we have and are completely satisfied with the product. However, when we ordered another for Christmas this year we were surprised to see the only vendor amazon has for this unit dropped the ball. The order was cancelled without any email or other explanation, too late for us to re-order with someone not connected to amazon. This is the first time since amazon started out that we have had this happen. Unfortunately, I am seeing a trend by amazon to utilize third-party vendors more for electronics. Too bad they are proving unreliable.

[+] 6.0 Great Device With Two Major Flaws
I actually like this little device. And I have used it often. But the reason I only gave it three stars is because it has two major flaws:

1. The remote does not allow you to chooose/change between albums, playlist, etc. When one playlist is finished, the device returns to the menu and you have no way of choosing another playlist. You actually have to walk over to the Sansa, take it out of the dock, scroll through the menus to the album or playlist you want to play and choose it, the reinsert it into the dock. The remote allows you to forward through songs, pause, and volume up or down. It doesn't allow you to go back to the main menu and choose an album or playlist. This is a serious drawback, and I can't believe the designers didn't take this into account.

2. The player won't fit into the dock when it's wearing a skin. Which is also really annoying, cause you've got to take the skin off to dock it, then put the skin back on when you take it out. Also a flaw in the design.

This device does ok for what it's purpose is. But the designers need to go back and address the two flaws. Then they would have a much better product.

Would I buy this product again? Probably. But it's nice to be aware of it's shortcomings so you don't get a nasty surprise.

[+] 10.0 SanDisk sansa docking station is a winner......
This device has turned my Home Theater investment into a ~3700 song jukebox when my SanDisk sansa e280 MP3 palyer is attached and being charged. This docking unit comes with a three foot Y cable with two RCA channel connectors. If your amp/receiver has a set of RCA audio input jacks you're all set. The unit also comes with a USB cable for compter use and an AC to DC power plug. The supplied remote works great too, so the package gets a five star rating from me.

[+] 4.0 would be GREAT if....
I love the product but two of the four features don't even work!

The remote control flat out doesn't work. I've replaced the battery multiple times so it's clearly a defect.

And the 'audio out' outlet doesn't work. I have to go through the mp3 player to get any sounds at all- which defeats the whole purpose of a docking station with an 'audio out.'

I will be requesting a replacement to see if I have the same problems. If I do then don't buy thisproduct. If I don't then it was just manufacturer error and this is a great product.

[+] 10.0 Great Product - nice price
This product does exactly what it says it does. It is compact and stylish and fits nicely in my bookcase.
Not for an audiophile but good sound with your 'acceptable' quality powered speakers. I use mine with small speakers and a bass box, and it sounds quite nice.

[+] 6.0 Works fine.. could be better - Worthless Remote
It's a docking station. Enough said. It looks pretty good - the whole Sansa line does. It connects easily to my receiver. It recharges the unit easily. If that is all you need, it's great. Hence 3 stars.

But, here are my faults with it. One, the stupid useless remote doesn't really do anything for you... plus it NEVER stays in the "remote holding slot" ...

Operationally, two things bug me that I feel should have been engineered in as an integrated product (it works pretty much like a "universal" dock):

(1) The signal to the Receiver should be clean - not sent through internal sound/volume processing: (Is there an option?) For example, when I first turn it on, I have to remove it, manually turn up the volume on the unit, and replace it on the dock. It defaults to 50% volume on the unit, which forces you to turn the receiver to dangerously high levels (god forbid you forget to turn the receiver down before changing the source selector to 'Radio'!! Can you say blown speakers?) You cannot even adjust the volume with it ON the dock.. so again off...up..on! No matter what output source I use (stereo, computer, etc.) I am going to use ITS sound processing and volume controls! Stupid.

(2) When it is ON the dock (i.e. NOT battery-powered) it should have an option to keep the display on if the unit is on (similar to Palm/Pocket PC). As a result, when I shut off the stereo, the Sansa is still on - and I don't realize... it basically goes into sleep mode as if on battery power. So, to change the song you have to push a button to awaken the unit, and again to change the song.

And the remote is worthless....

In summary, it works, its good looking . but, nowhere near a flawless gem of a device.

[+] 8.0 Good product
Does the basic job no frills. I read many reviews before purchasing so there were no surprises. Does about what i expected for $50. If i wanted a better interface I would have spent the money on a sound bridge. But to answer a question that i read on a review: the difference between this and just plugging an rca jack is huge. This has an integrated amp so you don't have to work your amp so hard and the sound quality is greatly improved because it's a digital feed.

[+] 8.0 Getting in the mood
This thing is great. When she walked into the bedroom I just hit the remote and the right "mood" music started playing softly to help her relax and get in ...well, the mood. The only problem I see is that you have to lift your arm up and point the remote at it to turn it off, when all you want to do at that point is sleep. Well worth the money.

[+] 10.0 SanDisk Sansa Base Station for Sansa c200 and e200 Series Players
Ordered the Sansa Base Station recently and have no complaints except for one minor one; the Owners Manual which takes a rocket sceintist to understand and someone with hawk eyes to see; print as small as an ant so be prepared to wear your glasses or contacts when reading this manual, but everything worked perfectly once the updater they recommend you install on your Sansa player is installed, I noticed some reviewers mentioned they had problems with their players not functioning probably the reason why is because they never installed the updater for the base station to function properly I would not buy into some of these reviewers rewiews because of inaccuracies on their part but take into account how many good reviews there is on the product thats your best bet when buying products from amazon

Reasonably priced. Actually works great. Got tired of having to turn my PC on to charge up my Sansa e250. Have not tried to connect it to my PC as it is in another room. Hooked up powered 2.1 speakers to it and it rocks the house. All the stero I need.

Remote control is limited On/Off, Volume Up/Down, Track Next/previous. Still a basic function remote control

[+] 10.0 Fantastic and blows the IPOD docs away
Great product as advertised. Works with relative ease and holds each item securely. The remote is great and is real useful by just fast forwarding to the next song. It served as a fantastic addition to my home stereo system without linking my PC to my receiver. By the way this design is much more superior than the ipod dock my girlfriend owns.

I bought the Sandisk base along with a Sandisk MP3 player...both from
Amazon. I got a great price on both products and my son (for whom the gift was purchased) is beyond thrilled with his new toy!!!

I did a lot of research before purchasing a Sandisk and the reviews were right on target - it's a great product!!

Also, the folks I ordered from got the products to me before Christmas even though I ordered pretty late! I will definitely use Amazon and this company again!!! :-)

[+] 8.0 I'm VERY satisfied... but the price?
Well, this thing does exactly what I wanted it to do. Hook it up to the stereo, set in the player and you're off and listening and charging. I don't hear any quality degredation and every morning it's fully charged ready for a days use... the only thing that I'm not fond of is the price... just seems like by the time you buy all the accessories you have MUCH more than the actual Sansa ever cost. I guess it's the nature of the beast. I'm sure this unit cost no-where near the selling price to make, and I'm all for business being successful... but come-on... but this reveiw isn't about the price, but the "product"... well, I do enjoy the product... I know some gripe about the remote, etc., well, for me, it's not that big of a deal; I'm usually up and about anyway, so if I have to "walk" over to find the remote somewhere, why not "walk" over to the unit to get done what you want to get done. I like that it's black and matches the unit, I like the charging and I like the sound that's coming out of it. I have not use the sync cord with this unit so I can't really comment on that. An MP3 player is a luxury and so are the accessories, so if you want a little "gift" and "toy" for yourself, I recommend the Sansas MP3 and this Sansas "dock"; I think you'll like it. I know I do.

[+] 10.0 Sansa base station- excellent with home stereo.
After reading some negative reviews, I still took a chance on ordering this to connect my Sansa e260 to my high quality office stereo.
I would like to comment on some of the negative things people wrote about this dock.
1) Some mentioned the weight as being too light- I feel this is a very well built unit and solid for its size. I have never had a problem with it moving around on its shelf due to vibration, even at very loud/peak volumes, with a 350+ watt stereo and subwoofer just a few feet away. Other things vibrate and fall off the shelves, but so far this base hasn't moved.
2) Lack of controls on the remote- For about $47 including shipping, the fact this unit even has a remote is great. Sure you might have to get up once in a while and scroll to a certain folder or song, but you can still power the unit on or off, lower/raise the volume, skip/rewind/ff thru songs. If the unit were triple the price, I might expect a little more from the remote... but it really is a great bang for your buck.
3) At first it DID make that "buzz" noise and had unacceptably low volume music, BUT, check the connection into the back of the Sansa base itself. I didnt put it all the way in when first installing it, was just a fraction of an inch out. When I pushed it all the way in, WOW! Sounds great, no buzzing what-so-ever and the built in amp actually makes a big difference. Everything I've listened to so far is crystal clear and very high quality. Plus with the Sansa e260 there is a great equalizer that makes the sound quality coming from my already excellent stereo, even better.

Overall a highly recommended piece for connecting it to a stereo system. I havent used it attached to a computer yet but it came with the usb cord and expect it to perform just as well. Great value, high quality product, free shipping, couldnt ask for anything more, especially near this price.

[+] 10.0 Simple: it does what it says
First off, don't let some of the poor reviews here concern you too much. Anyone looking for a cure-all device to deliver a plethora of features for under fifty bucks is looking in the wrong place (and will probably be disappointed no matter where they look).

This Sandisk base station is a strong unit and serves its purpose competently. I can't find fault with anything on it so far; it's simple, convenient, and sounds great. Set-up took less than a minute, and the included instructions were unnecessary. Operation of the no-frills remote is intuitive, and navigation of the Sansa player (not included, of course) via the dock was already second nature from having used the player previously.

Specifially, here's what I like about this dock/station:

-It sounds fantastic. The built-in amplification alone is worth the purchase. As anyone who's jacked an MP3 player into a stereo, powered speakers, etc probably knows, you need to crank up the volume on one or both of the devices to get decent sound. This dock solves that problem easily.

-It takes care of the charging dilemma some users complain about with the Sansa players (that is, how to charge the player without tying into a computer in the process). Charging now can be done anywhere, and the stand allows the player to sleep with dignity--standing up in it's base; not laying on the floor with a cord coming out of its rear.

-The remote is a useful bonus that, along with an attached pair of powered speakers (see below) or stereo system, turns your Sansa into its own system.

-The weighted base, slip-resistant undersurface, and rear-ported jacks allow for easy and attractive placement pretty much anywhere. I read in a previous review the complaint that this base isn't heavy enough. Short of gluing a cinder block to the bottom of this, I'm not sure what else Sandisk is supposed to do. The weight is fine, and in fact even adds some perceived value in its heft.

-It comes with two custom-fitted adaptors for either of the mentioned Sansa series, giving you the option to retrofit the dock to one or the other series.

Now, if you feel like investing a little extra, and really want to get the most from this device, try what I did. Buy a pair of quality powered speakers (I'm using the Bose Companion 2 multi-media speakers), and plug them into the docking station. This gives you a sturdy, clean-sounding stereo system complete with easy playback, excellent sound, customized EQ (maybe the best reason to buy Sansas), basic remote, FM tuner (via Sansa), and an attractive, minimalist appearance. All in all, it's a worthy sound system that can be easily moved from room to room, and can be broken down for use as individual components.

Absolutely worth the few bucks it costs.

[+] 10.0 A Superb Product!
This product fits my needs to a T. It is as advertised. [+] 8.0 Great to have. Must own if you own a Sansa e series player.
I must admit- this item is very limited in function, and you may have to download an update to your player as I did to make it work. But this item is great because it hooks up so easily to my large stereo system and we can dance without the cd player skipping or changing cds all the time. And the charging funtion is wonderful. It displays that the unit is charging and then shuts itself off when charging is complete. Our household has 5 Sansas and charging them is a breeze. Another plus is the compact size of the remote and the built in storage dock for the remote. No doubt they will have updates available for this unit in the very near future too.

[+] 6.0 Oopsie...
As noted in other reviews, SanDisk dropped the ball programming the remote. The only workaround is to create long play lists using Windows Media Player and sync them to the device. Then at least you can play a list and skip/replay tracks from the remote with less fumbling around.

Works best with E200 family players, which can be operated in the dock. C200 models need to be removed from the base, or the whole base tipped sideways, to navigate the menus, which can be quite annoying if you aren't playing from a long list. (The C200 display is bad enough that if you are getting a player and the base station... just get the E200 instead. You'll be glad you did.)

Comes in handy to charge the units and besides your home sound system can be used with any powered speakers left over from computers etc.

[+] 8.0 Great item...
I purchased this and am quite pleased with it. I would give it 5 stars but the remote is REALLY chintzy and has no way to get back to the menu from the remote (on the Sansa e280 you push the power button once and let go to return to the menu...it doesn't work to try that with the remote power button). It is otherwise very nice and is black and glossy and matches the Sansa e280 perfectly.

[+] 8.0 Offers basic functionality
Works well but has limited functionlity using the remote. Essentially you can change the volume and move through the song list. Since I had read other reviews I was aware of the limitations but it meets my needs.

[+] 8.0 Good So Far
So far I enjoy the base for charging but I haven't found out what is compatible with the base station that will allow music to be played over speakers. If anyone knows will any pair of speakers do or do they have to be Sansa? Thanks for any help. Good product does as advertised!

[+] 10.0 A Sansa E240 and SanDisk SDAMX-BST Base Station Review
Call me "unhip" if so desired, but "apple" means one of two things to me: edible fruit and/or the latter-date record label of a pioneering English rock band.

My little ol' Sansa E240's four gigs of storage (total storage can be as much as six with a two-gig Micro SD card) holds, count 'em, 16-hours worth of 160Kbps or higher (mostly 192Kbps) bit-rate tunes. Meaning: mostly used when I fly or work in the yard, since I first loaded it I've twice flown cross country (round trip) and "pulled weeds" without hearing the same tune twice (because it picks right up where previously stopped). Granted, I didn't use it every single second while in the air, but I have used it substantially each time.

Speaking of longevity: the E240's hardy battery power lasted the first Florida-to-California round trip and still held half of its charge upon return.

The E240 is intuitive (only cracked the instructions for initial startup info) and I can quickly, like almost "right now," get to key playback aspects such as volume control (love that 'ring wheel!'), forward, back, pause, and more. The color display's so good it's hard to believe.

As for the Base Station: In a stroke of genius, Sansa-maker SanDisk actually put all the wire connections ON THE UNIT'S BACKSIDE! In a day and age where protruding FRONT wires seem the rage, these guys got 'em out of the way.

Wired connections - for which cabling in each case is provided with the SDAMX-BST base station - are: power; USB 2.x; and, handy-dandy stereo RCA audio cabling for direct connect to stereo system. Though I run all of my home entertainment through a dedicated desktop (and thus will otherwise use the USB cable), the RCA cabling is a nice touch for those having a system with RCA inputs and not already using a computer to control music playback.

The Sansa E240 - with a full, non-factory silicone case - fits solidly onto the base station's charging cradle. To be honest, when first received I was a little bummed that the Sansa E240 unit itself didn't use a female USB 2.x mini-port, which is more and more commonly seen today. However, I can now easily see how one would likely have to often strip the unit from something like a silicone case - which increases the E240's exterior dimensions and might not otherwise fit a narrower, unit-sized cradle - if it didn't have the somewhat larger, but more stable, Sansa-specific female/male fitting.

The unit's remote - for which a (non-charging) cradle is likewise provided on the base station - works at least 35-feet away, the distance I now sit from the base station as this is being written.

Oh, already up-and-running, I've yet to open the base station's manual, even for initial startup information. It was that simple to set up.

Acquired through an Amazon-associated merchant (PC Micro Store), I also got a complete Sansa E2xx kit, that has a silicone cover, USB 2.x Sansa-specific cable, runner's arm band and car power (cigarette lighter) port connector for the USB-to-Sansa cable. Worth every cent.

In short: The above works for me and pretty darn good at that - all for hardly more than an iPod Nano, alone.

[+] 10.0 Sansa Base Station
If you use you Sansa a lot like I do you can't always hook it up to your PC to charge it. The base Stations makes it a little easier to charge the unit and to sync it up to you PC and transfer files. Its a convenience thing and it works great.

[+] 10.0 Love it!!
I have had the base station for about 2 months and I use it everyday. I have no problems, it was easy to setup and easy to dock the mp3 player. Totally happy with this purchase!

[+] 10.0 Perfect - works exactly as advertised.
It could not be simpler. Plug it into the outlet, plug the 1/8th jack into the base and the RCA connectors into your unit, dock the MP3, turn it on and go. Just like that & it re-charges to boot.

There is nothing else to write, because it does just what is advertised. The remote controls everything.

I wish there was more to say but there is not. The unit works, plain & simple.

[+] 6.0 The Poorly Built Sansa Base Station
This does not match the build quality of the lil'monsta it hosts.
Either the remote doesn't work or connections are flimsy.

I returned mine when it had a missing part, the item the sent me back didn't have a working remote. I've had it with this item!

Thankfully my Logitech Harmony can control the device. Its convenient is all.
