The Only Rechargables that work with my Flash
I will only buy these rechargeables from now on. They are the only ones powerful enough for my Canon 580 flash.
My digital camera ate other batteries at an alarmingly high rate (as in 20 mins or less) -- these have been going strong for about a month already with no sign of being run down. Best purchase!
I use these batteries in my electric toothbrush. After a few months of use, I noticed these batteries last much longer than the Duracell alkalines that I used to use.
After four months of regular use, I've only had to change the batteries once. They've lasted so long, I haven't even gotten the opportunity to try out the charger yet.
I have a Cannon PowerShot SX120 IS camera. Although it is a faboulous camera, it just eats up batteries. One pair of the Sanyo Eneloop precharged batteries lasted for over 5 days on my vacation. I was taking tons of pictures - 50+ per day and 1 short movie. I am REALLY impressed. The rechargables that came with my camera package only last for about 20 pictures. I'll never waste money purchasing anything other than the Sanyo Eneloop - assuming I'll ever need to purchase any more - they are still going strong. Good job, Sanyo!

just what I wanted!
I read all the positive reviews with a little trepidation. Could these batteries really perform so well? I was fed up with replacing regular batteries which my digital camera ate for breakfast! These came fully charged as described and have held the charge for at least a couple weeks now...I haven't had to change them or recharge yet. Definitely the way to go for camera users.

In any appliance these batteries give at least as good a performance as the best non-rechargeable ones. Used them in remote controls, portable charges (yeah, I have a single-sell LiPO batteries charger that now uses AA eneloops - kind of recursive), mobile phone portable charger - the eneloops are fantastic.

Works great, also in Europe
I bought the Eneloop batteries and recharger when I got my digital camera and I've been very satisfied with them so far. The batteries last much longer than I would have ever expected - I've been able to take up to 600 pictures on one charge of batteries. I took the recharger with me on my last trip to Germany and was able to plug it in with a simple adapter and it worked like a charm with 220 V. I just ordered another one so I can keep one at home and use one for travel.

Compact charger!
Eneloop batteries are great in retaining their charge over a period of time. This charger takes about 5 hours to charge 2 2500 mAh batteries. However, the longer time ensures that there is no heat damage to the batteries that I noticed with a fast 15-min charger. Although less convenient than a 15 min charger, it is very small and does not have a separate, heavy transformer that you need to carry around. Especially useful when traveling!
These batteries seem to be comparable to the competition EXCEPT they are much more sturdy construction. This is important in repeatedly removing them. Other brands can get ragged edges. Plus they look nice!

They just work..and work well they do
I've tried rechargeable batteries before and have always been disappointed until now. The Sanyo eneloop batteries work just like an alkaline battery except better. We use them in our remotes, wireless keyboards and mice, and other things. Recharge time is reasonable and they do the job. I'm sold. The Sanyo product is actually made in Japan and pretty much all the rest are made in China. Just a personal thing, but I prefer to avoid China made goods if possible.
One funny thing we had happen is we bought a new Blu-Ray DVD player and it came with normal alkaline batteries for the remote. The remote didn't work out of the box so we thoguht the batteries were bad and put in some new AAA alkalines we had from before buying the eneloops, and they didn't work either. On a whim I installed a pair of the eneloops and the remote worked. Then when I went back to the regular batteries it wouldn't work. Batteries tested ok. I think something is wrong with the remote but it's funny that it works fine with the eneloops.

Yes - They work great
I am a dad with 2 kids. Two years ago I made the decision to switch to rechargeable batteries, because of the large number of AA batteries we were plowing through...
At the time, I read all the articles, and agonized over "which batteries, which charger, etc..".
This is just my follow up to say that I have been using the Eneloop batteries for the last 2 years (along with a MAHA MH-C401FS charger). They have been exactly what I needed. They hold a charge great, quick to recharge, and no hassles.
Most importantly, they just do what you need a rechargeable battery to do- WORK.
I pop these in my kid's camera, and they last for 2 months or more. If you have ever seen a kid play with a digital camera, you know that's impressive.
Anyway, I'm not an engineer, but I just wanted to throw out my own experience, and say that, yes, these do the trick.
Regarding the charger, the only down side that I have noticed is that the batteries can get warm when charging. However, I always charge on Fast mode, so I'm not exactly surprised.

GREAT batteries for slow-drain devices.
I'm not an expert or battery afficionado like NLee the Engineer (whose reviews on batteries and charging accessories have been surprisingly useful to me!), but even the layperson can appreciate Sanyo Eneloop batteries. In short -- great purchase for use with slow-drain devices. Details below:
I've used the Energizer NiMH rechargeables for several years now -- in my Xbox controllers, remote control, mouse, keyboard, some flashlights... and so on.
I noticed that in some devices they were great, but that in low-drain ones like my remote control or mouse I was recharging way too frequently -- once every month or two. Some research revealed that typical NiMH batteries have great capacity, but lose a lot of their charge after they sit around for a while (1-3 months will kill a lot of the charge in the battery, even if it's not being used).
This wouldn't be too much of a problem except for the fact that NiMH cells only have a native voltage of 1.2v -- already low for some devices. Combine the lower voltage with charge that dips over time and you have a shorter than reasonable lifespan.
Enter eneloop batteries!
I started off with I think 8 AA cells and have now expanded to 16 AA and 8 AAA eneloop cells. I use them in my mouse, remote control, keyboard, and Xbox 360 controllers. They're great and last just as long as normal alkaline cells! Definitely a worthy purchase for those frustrated by frequently switching out their normal NiMH cells in low-drain devices. Now, I use my normal NiMH cells in high-drain devices like flashlights and let me eneloops do the long-life work in my low-drain devices.

Finally.... a rechargable that I'm satisfied with.
I've been using Eneloop batteries for about a year now and am really happy with them.
I initially bought them to use in camera flashes (Canon Speedlite 580 EXII). I wanted something rechargeable because I'd be going through a lot of batteries and I wanted something that held its charge a long time because there might be long periods of time before I use a flash. They have performed as advertised. They are long lasting and hold their charge a long time while waiting in my camera bag.
I've gradually replaced all the AA (and AAA) batteries in my house with these as my old batteries have died. It is great to know that I don't have to buy new batteries for all my remotes, Wii controllers, flashlights, etc.
I felt vindicated when I read Consumer report's positive ratings for these batteries.

Best rechargables available.
After using traditional rechargeable batteries for years and being disappointed at having to recharge them every time I wanted to use them (if they'd been sitting in a drawer - I mean you want them to work when you need them right?), someone told me about these batteries. Charge them once and they'll hold that charge for a year or more so you can have a drawer full of them and replace the batteries in your equipment right away while the used ones are charging. And these are hi powered as well. They'll run a digital camera, external lighting, toothbrushes and seemingly never run out of juice. The "C" and "D" cell adaptors are pretty nifty as well.
Sure, they might cost a bit more than other rechargeables, but you'll definitely come out ahead over the long run while helping the environment as well.
THESE BATTERIES ARE A GODSEND. THEY ARE LASTING FOUR TO FIVE TIMES LONGER THAN THE OLDER RECHARGEABLES I'M USING. VERY SATISFIED.
Have purchased cheaper batteries and find that I got what I paid for. Given a choice and a need I'd buy these again. Highly recommend.

Best Rechargeable Batteries I've used to Date
The title of my review almost says it all. I am not as technically inclined when it comes to batteries as I am with other things. All I can say is I use these in my digital camera, digital mouse, Wii motes and pretty much anything else that requires a longer charge, and they work great. The set comes with come C and D adapters for things like flashlights. My experience with those is not as a great, doesn't seem to last as long, but really I bought these for the smaller items. I hear there are new ones being made, and I am eager to try Sanyo Eneloops of any variety.

It's a rechargable battery
It works however it does discharge faster than Sanyo says it will. I use them for my Wii and if left in the wiimote they do seem to slowly discharge for some reason. No big deal as I usually just use one Wiimote most of the time and if I need more I can just pop them in as needed. This way they are always fully charged and ready. They charge up quick with my La Crosse Technology BC-700 Alpha Power Battery Charger that I got from Amazon. I would recommend these batteries for anyone that has electronics that love to go through batteries - cameras, remotes, wiimotes, lasers, etc.

No more jumping through hoops with my eneloops
So, I got me this Sony Cybershot H5 camera, and was on the verge of bankruptcy as I tried to satisfy its two battery per day habit.
I had a couple of another brand of rechargeable battery, but found that I was only getting about 75 pictures per charge, while regular batteries gave me about 200 before giving up the ghost.
Enter the eneloop, which is not only a starkly professional looking battery, but gives me somewhere in the vicinity of 300 photographs on a single charge.
One thing though - when I put them in the camera, the reading showed ¾ charge after about 10 photographs, but maintained that reading for a much longer time than I expected.
Buying this pack of four allows me to keep two in the camera and two on standby on photo shoots, which is more than enough for an amateur photo-take-outerer like myself, plus the savings in battery purchases allows for refreshments afterwards.
I can't say how good they are for any other application, because no one is going to be laying a finger on my eneloops.
Highly recommended for digital cameras.

As good as they say!
I have never been into rechargeable batteries. Family and friends have, and from their experiences, I can see that it's just not worth it. Rechargeable battery technology just isn't quite there yet.
Or so I thought. Until I tried these. I have been absolutely impressed with how long the charge lasts, both in use and in storage. And performance is even better than regular AAs; at least, the flash on my digital camera recharges quicker than it used to.
I have purchased over two dozen batteries and two chargers, and I'm switching out all my devices -- remotes, video game controllers, etc. -- as their batteries die. I keep a few extra near the charger so that whenever one set runs dry, I can pop in new ones while the old ones are charging. Because the batteries have a long storage life, this works perfectly!
I have also recommended these batteries to a few friends and everyone who has tried them has been pleasantly surprised.

Great product ... but beware of shipping delays
I would give these batteries five stars if simply based on product quality and price. However, I placed a second order for these in January, along with a pack of AAAs, and ended up having to cancel the order. Actually, Amazon canceled the AAA order on their own, because they apparently no longer have them in stock. The estimated shipping date for the AAs was in June, and I simply don't want to wait that long.
They do seem to have a longer shelf life than my old NiMH batteries - but those were getting pretty long in the tooth - so the old ones were not at the top of their game. They work well in my canon cameras, and I put one in each of my single-AA powered wall clocks to see how many months they go in very slow-drain conditions. That remains to be seen. Otherwise these are just rechargeable batteries. They won't make your photos better.... they won't improve the sound of your mp3 player... but they seem to work fine.
I'd never purchased rechargeable batteries before, since they typically had a poor reputation. My belief was that the batteries did not hold a charge for long. So why bother?
Well, the Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable batteries are not what you'd expect based on the reputation of these earlier models. They come charged, right out of the package. I recently bought a Tivoli Songbook and decided to use rechargeable batteries to conserve and avoid throwing away standard batteries every few weeks. The Sanyo Eneloop batteries lasted for about 2 weeks with their initial charge (i.e., out of the package). They quickly recharged when the radio was plugged in, taking about 4 hours (to fully recharge). This and the subsequent charges have lasted for about 2 to 3 weeks each time, with average usage of the radio (about 3 hours per day).
Overall, I'm very pleased with these batteries. In addition to being environmentally safe, these batteries will save me a significant amount of money over time, by not having to buy (and then dispose of) 6 alkaline batteries with each replacement.
Something has indeed gone wrong with the pricing on these - I paid about $16 - $17 for the 8-pack AA's on Amazon a couple of months ago...
That aside, the batteries work great. Capacity seems to be slightly less (about 10%) than stated after cycling through several charge and discharge cycles, but is still more than adequate. Previous experience with regular NIMH batteries was so bad that I had thrown them away and gone back to NI-Cads - the eneloops are a much better solution.

Eneloop AA the perfect product
AA batteries are a staple in any American home. With adapters available online, you can make these AA batteries fit in items that require C or D size batteries. No need to purchase any other batteries ever. Amazon was the cheapest I could find for just the raw batteries not packaged with a charger or anything. They arrived fully charged and ready to use. This is my second batch of Eneloops that I have purchased and am once again 100% satisfied. They do everything regular non-rechargables can do, but with no ongoing cost of purchase and a huge reduction of waste going into the ground. After much researching, I found that Eneloops had the best specs and satisfaction of any ultra-low self discharge batteries... thats why I made the purchase, and so should you.

Long lasting, great for digital cameras
These batteries are phenomenal for digital cameras, both because they are high capacity and long lasting. They do not lose charge over time like standard rechargeable NiMH batteries. For this reason, I have taken to using them all over the house, including in cordless mice, remote controls, and even a clock. They are suitable for use just about anywhere an alkaline battery would be, but unlike alkaline batteries, you can use them hundreds of times before throwing them away (or recycling them). The result is lots of money saved and far less waste.
I know this isn't relevant to the product itself, but as others have mentioned, Amazon seems to have made a habit out of sending open-box Eneloops to customers. My order arrived open (with the batteries scattered all over the box), though I decided to keep them since they seem to be in working order.

Eneloop batteries hold charge very well.
I first tried Eneloop batteries in a Canon IS-S1 camera (4 AAs). I would frequently grab the camera for an unexpected picture opportunity and find the regular NiMH batteries had lost their power - or most of it. These Eneloop batteries hold their charge well, so this no longer happens. I now use them in the IS-S1 and in a Canon 570IS (2 AAs). Both cameras work perfectly, and they remain charged and ready for quick pick up use.
I also use Eneloops in a cordless keyboard and mouse where other NiMH AAs lost their charge too quickly. I had gone back to alkaline batteries to avoid changing batteries so often. No more problem.
I keep a handheld CB radio in the car (6 AAs) for infrequent use while traveling -- mostly to find the reason for unexpected traffic stoppage on interstate highways. Because older rechargeables lose charge too quickly, I have needed alkalines. I bought the 8-pack Eneloop batteries to keep in the car. I will only need to recharge them every few months.
Amazon's 8-pack price is great and these Eneloop AAs are excellent batteries. They are the only type I use now for anything that uses AA batteries. I haven't had any of them long enough to judge how long they will continue to accept recharging, but expect them to outlast the 2-3 years of older NiMH because of fewer charging cycles.

Better than ordinary recargables.
They stay charged for a long time and hold above there rated charge. They are really shine with digital cameras. We have one camera you could barely be used because it would eat up alkaline batteries in a handful of shots. The flash will also recharge more quickly than with normal rechargeable or primary cells.
The only thing better if you know you are going to use a lot of shots is the regular Sanyo 2700 but they loose a lot of their charge when you let them sit around. I end up using the Eneloops more. The Raovack do well but cant stand up to the same high drain output the Sanyos can.

Concerns about ordering these from Amazon
I can't actually review these batteries because I haven't used them enough. I can tell you I wouldn't buy any more from Amazon right now.
I ordered some a few weeks ago and was initially told that it would be 1-2 months before I got them. About a week later the package arrived with 3 8-packs.
I was somewhat surprised that the batteries had originally been intended for Canada as they are marked with "sanyo.ca". Nothing against Canada - just surprised. Of a bit more concern was that the packages all indicated they had been manufactured in 8/2006 (16 months ago). Of even more concern was that one of the clamshells had clearly been slit open on two sides. The batteries inside were charged (1.4v on the voltmeter) and definitely eneloops, but given that these are batteries which I expect to get 100s of cycles out of, paying new prices for used batteries didn't seem quite right. I filed to return that one pack back to Amazon (which was mailed out today) and they told me they didn't know how long it would take to send a replacement due to empty stocks. They almost immediately shipped the batteries which arrived today. It is also from 8/2006 and slit open on two sides just enough to get the batteries out. I'm a big Amazon fan (and fully utilize my Prime shipping) but something weird is going on with their supply of these batteries. I'm going to steer clear for a while.
I bought these Rechargeable Batteries 1 month ago and I have never received them. Customer Service sent me some bull s... that they run out of them. As you can see a month later they still are advertise here. What a bed business!!!

Finally, the last drawback to rechargables is gone
I've always been interested in rechargeable batteries. Really, hasn't everybody who has ever thrown away an alkaline wondered if there isn't a better way? I mean, they look perfectly fine, even though we know in our hearts that they are dead, never to return.
Enter the NiCad, the staple of the hobbiest of the 1970s, these batteries can be recharged many times, but quickly fade out. Their destiny was to be tossed into the battery drawer, that graveyard for half-used and dead batteries that everyone had someplace in their home.
Later, the NiMH, the successor to the lowly NiCad, arrived. When that one showed up, everyone declared victory, emptied the battery drawer into the trash, and started anew. They held much more power than the NiCads of their youth, and seemed nearly perfect. They worked very well indeed in high-demand applications like digital cameras, where the flash and the screen on the backs ate up the little NiCads like they were peanuts. The problem was that in lower demand applications, like remote controls, the thing they still had in common with NiCads proved their undoing. When left alone for a month or two, in a device or not, they would lose their energy. Leaking out like the helium balloon of a child, the power escaped into the ether, leaving the owner to return to a dead remote, unable to change a channel.
Enter the Eneloop, otherwise known as the precharged NiMH. But, this battery brought something more to the table than a simple quick-charge at the factory. It has an extremely low self-discharge rate, which is fancy talk for saying that a year after you charge it, your remote will still work. Amazing. Finally, after years of well-dressed, but incapable technologies, the contender actually has the chops to take on the reigning champion, the mighty bunny battery.
Replacing all of your remote batteries with these will save countless trips to the garbage, as well as trips to the computer to order more bulk batteries from Amazon. Just think what all those UPS trucks, filled with oddly-named alkaline batteries from China, could be carrying instead. The overworked drivers might even be able to take a day or two off every now and again, all because of a little, relatively unadvertised innovation that fits in your pocket.
If you've ever wondered if there might be a better way while throwing away yet another handful of dead alkalines, give these a try.
Highly recommended.

good batteries but disappointing seller
I returned these batteries to Amazon 2008-01 because they were in a damaged bubble-pack date-stamped 2006-06. They sent me a replacement and it has the same date stamp (and a slightly-dinged pack). Batteries have a limited life, and unlike aged cheese, when I buy "new" batteries I expect to get new ones, not aged 18 months. Also, the broken bubble packs hint that these may be from a lot that got dropped or something. If they want to liquidate sub-par merchandise cheap, they should describe it as such. I see no point in sending these back yet again, but will probably buy batteries elsewere in the future.

Great batteries, great price
I bought a total of 7 8packs and am very happy.
NiMH batteries are great in that they hold more total energy than an alkaline cell, and they can be recharged many times with out memory affects. The traditional drawbacks of NiMH is that their voltage is 1.2V as apposed to 1.5, and that they "self disscharge" which means that they go dead on their own.
Hybrid NiMH like these eneloops and the Hybrio cells solve the self disscharge issue. The total stored power in the cell is less than a traditional NiMH (hybird=2AH while traditional NiMH=2.7AH, and alkaline typically has about 1.5AH) but for high drain devices like a digital camera, these are absolutely the BEST.
In my digital camera, which takes AAs, hybrid NiMH are the only ones that work. Alkaline cannot keep up with the load, and traditional NiMH are dead after a week. These Eneloops last for months.
If you are some one that wants to try rechargeable batteries, I would reccomend paying the extra money and getting hybrids like these. They are much more functional than the other NiMH, and the price listed here is very low.
