[+] 8.0 Sanyo Xacti Bad
I haven't used the leash. It seems fine. That Sanyo Xacti camera sux. It stopped working after a few uses. I'm very disappointed in Sanyo. I won't buy Sanyo again.

[+] 6.0 Almost perfect
The wrist wrap is great. It's very comfortable and strong.
The cord is a little too inflexible, so when I attach it to my camera, the larks head knot won't tighten down, so it stays as a pretty big loop.
Also, the cord is rubber, so my guess is that sooner or later a sharp edge will nick it, and it will fail
In my opinion, they should have chosen a better material for the cord.

[+] 10.0 Very Satisfied
I'm very satisfied with this camcorder. For the price its a nice one. I haven't had the chance to get to work with everything that it does but I will eventually. I have shot a video with it and downloaded it to my computer and it looks great. The sound level could be louder but once downloaded the sound is good. Not too small or large. Has good weight to it. Doesn't feel cheap at all. Amazon shipped it right on time frame they promised. You will be happy with it.

[+] 8.0 Not for the Xacti VPC-WH1
The leash was recommended when I purchased my Sanyo Xacti VPC-WH1. However, when I received the product, I realized that it was made for the upright Xacti models. Though I just attached the leash to the camera's strap, it would've been helpful to know ahead of time that this product was not made for the VPC-WH1.

Otherwise, it worked well with the workaround.

[+] 8.0 A little overpriced but insurance
something like this is a must if you take your camera in the water. Could be cheaper but...

[+] 2.0 Don't really need it
Well, this is a strange kind of review as I never used it, BUT that's because we didn't need it. I thought it was a smart purchase as a way to protect the camera from sinking to the bottom of the ocean but I found that if we were careful when passing the camera back and forth between my wife and I we didn't need the extra hassle of the velcro wrist strap. Using the strap that comes with the camera was enough for us.

[+] 8.0 Note: E1 only!
Folks: The more recent model - the E2 - is only one ounce heavier, but there is no leash (this or the Ebay one) that will float it.

[+] 6.0 It is what it is.
I bought this for my recent trip and bought it with the Exacti 2. PROS It came as expected and on time. MINUS It doesn't allow the camera to float even a little to give you a chance to grab it. RECOMMENDATION Buy, you need a good strap and use it.

[+] 10.0 A must for underwater photography
If you intend to use the Xacti underwater, this strap is a must. It held the camera securely but was easy enough to undo to switch users. I can not see how we could have used the camera underwater without this leash.

[+] 8.0 Water leash
I purchased this item at the same time I bought my waterproof camcorder, thinking it was a must have.So far that is not the case.I found that where I have used my camcorder,(swimming pools, water slides, and amusement park water rides), this item was a waste of money. The factory leash so far has served me quite well.I gave this item a 4 star rating because next year I will truly test it out with a trip to Hawaii. So just because it did not work for me does not mean it won't work for others.Good product ,just not very useful for me so far.

[+] 10.0 Works as designed
Not much to talk about here, other than this product works as designed. It holds the camera and it stay on my arm with the velcro strap. The only thing that bothers me is I wish the strap were a little longer so I could velcro it around my arm when I'm tubing and still be able to paddle with my hands in the water without the camera getting wet or dragged along in the water.
That's just with tubing though... other situations like the beach or boating, this thing is great!

[+] 8.0 A Good choice - but needs refined
The strap is a must while in the water, but the loop needs to be a lot mor flexible, It fels like it mind undo by itself.

[+] 10.0 Essential for snorkeling
The wrist strap gave us total peace of mind while we were snorkeling. The Sanyo Xacti VPC-E1 camcorder is only waterproof to a depth of 1.5m, so dropping it in deeper water could mean ruining the camera, even if it could be retrieved.

The rubbery loop attachment, criticised in an earlier review, serves it's purpose extremely well. It ensures that the strap can be easily removed from the camera for rinsing and drying and then easily replaced again. The velcro fastening is secure and comfortable. I would highly recommend the strap for anyone involved in water sports.

[+] 10.0 Worth Every Penny
I purchased this little gem to take with me on our Thanksgiving trip to Cancun. This was the first time I had taken my new Sanyo Xacti VPC-E1 to the beach. This strap was priceless. It let me keep a good hold onto the camera while snorkeling and once over a deep section of water I lost my grip on the strap and the camera floated to the surface. Without this strap it would have sunk like a rock and I probably would have lost my amazing camera. The camera will sink without this strap which has a small float built into the strap. I highly recommend this item if you are taking your Xacti into open water for snorkeling or swimming. Very well worth the price.

[+] 2.0 Tie on is a little too springy, but what do you want for free?
I recently purchased the Sanyo Xacti VPC-E1 Waterproof MPEG-4 Camera through Amazon. I'm extremely happy with the camera and the accessories I purchased with it (additional batteries, flash cards, etc.). This "Water Leash" was a free item offered as an incentive to purchase the camera. It did not arrive with the camera, but was shipped separately and arrived several days later. It consists of a very rubbery looping attachment which is supposed to connect to the base of the camera by looping through itself and pulling tight - much like the string wrist strap which comes with the camera. The other end of the device is connected to a neoprene handle which could be pushed over the hand and left to rest around the wrist. The item is good in theory, but the looping bit that connects around the camera base is very thick rubber, and never seems to synch tightly, which leaves the camera moving very loosely about. I suppose if you were rolling about in the surf all day it would make no difference, but for my needs in the family pool, I prefer to have a bit more control of where the camera rests at any given moment. However, free is free, so if that is the offer you are presented with, I would go for it - it may serve you needs better than mine. However, if you are considering purchasing this item, I would think twice - It really doesn't seem to secure the camera all that well.
