Product Specifications

Featuring unique retro styling and a heavy-duty steel construction, the Schwinn Roadster is a great choice for your youngster's first trike. It has a low center of gravity thanks to a wider profile back, which offers added stability to prevent tipping. The swoopy steel frame has an easy step-through design so your tyke will be comfortable and ready to ride.

The Roadster is packed with stylish details, including real wood back deck, shiny silver steel fenders, and a comfy bucket seat.
The Roadster has a bucket seat with an opening on the back for easy carrying, and the seat can be adjusted underneath with twist knob (no tools needed) to five different positions. The handlebars have textured grips and raised ends that help keep the hands from slipping off, and the handlebars can be adjusted using a wrench. The pedals offer colored rubber accents that also provide extra gripping so shoes don't slide off. It also features air-filled tires--12 inches in front, 8 inches in the back--which provide a smoother ride over bumpy surfaces.

For added style, this trike comes with a real wooden deck in back with a burned-in Schwinn logo, shiny silver fenders on the front and back tires, a bell on the handlebars (which can be removed), and tassels for added flair coming off the ends of the handlebars (also removable).

[+] 8.0 Great Value!!
After some research, we purchased this pink tricycle for our 20 month old. Great bike overall that 2 year olds can grow into. A tad on the pricey side but well worth the $. Here's the highlights:

Pros:
-Old school but super sleek look. Received compliments practically every time she rode it around the neighborhood.
-Designed low to the ground w/ wide wheel base which give trike unbelievable stability. There were numerous times my daughter was going probably faster that she should have and then swerved to one side. The trike never tipped over. Others trikes will tip easily.
-Handle bars slanted down toward the rider (think of custom chopper bike) making it comfortable and easy for your child control.
-Solid seat with high seat back make it very comfortable for the rider.
-If your child pedals hard enough, this trike can cruise up to a high speed. You just need to be careful you're in a safe place to do this.

Cons:
-She was a little short for the lowest seat setting as her feet barely touched the pedals. But once she could comfortably reach, she was on her way.
-First trike had a flat tire that didn't hold air and had to return.
-Bell on the handle bar didn't last very long.

[+] 10.0 Great looking bike
This is solid looking bike with a great retro look. The bike has a very nice and my son enjoys a lot riding his trike. The assembly was a snap too. The bell on the handle is cheaply built though. Little bit of hard pressure on it and it came off. Otherwise just great.

[+] 10.0 We love this trike!
We gave this trike to our youngest daughter this past July for her 3rd birthday. We cannot praise this trike enough.
Assembly was a snap for my husband. It was a process that took under 20 minutes.
The overall look of the trike is very retro. The only thing I would change about the trike it the wooden step on the back. Sadly, it can only support 5lbs of weight, or so it says in the owners manual. Back in the day, trikes like this could be used as scooters by standing on the rear step or you could tote along a friend on the back. So the bottom line with my only gripe about this trike is that the rear step is decorative.
We purchased the pink version of this trike. The color is very bubble gum pink and it oozes girly appeal.
My [...] is simply delighted with this trike. It does not tip over at all which was a problem we had encountered with our old trike. She loves the bell that's attached to the handlebars and delights in ringing it as the pedals up and down the street.
The trike is heavy so it can be a little difficult to ride it up hill. The seat is easy to adjust and my picky princess says its very comfortable.
If you are looking for a great trike that will gather some oohs and ahhs along the way then look no further.

[+] 10.0 nice trike
My 17 month old enjoys sitting on it and is starting to get the hang of the pedals. He can scoot it along with his feet on the floor. However, I think for kids under 33" tall it is way too big. I think the box said from heights starting at 26". Even with the seat all the way forward and pedal blocks added to the pedals (sold separately) his feet barely reach the pedals.

[+] 10.0 Great Trike
I bought this trike for my 2 1/2 yr old grandson. It is a great looking trike and my grandson was very excited when he saw it. It is very well made and appears to be very sturdy. It is much larger than the Ready To Ride Radio Flyer trike he already had. The rear wheels are set pretty far apart (about 22 inches). That makes the trike more stable and less likely to tip over when making sharp turns of the wheel. Be aware that it is a better "outside" trike rather than for use in the house, because of the wide wheel span. There are smooth metal parts protruding from the center of the wheels and they can mar walls and furniture when riding through the house.

[+] 10.0 LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS TRIKE!!!!
This is the cutest tricycle ever, not to mention sturdy and solid. My 2 year old is very petite and she just reached the pedals and smiles from ear to ear on this. Low to the ground which is perfect for beginners and she just loves the horn. Only complaint,,,, why don't they sell this bike in stores? Had to pay overnight shipping to get in time for bday- well worth it to see the smile on her face:o)

[+] 10.0 love it
We gave this to my son for his second b-day, and while he can't quite use the pedals yet, he LOVES it. He practically ignored all his other presents. This little bike will be with us for a while.

Easy to assemble. Quality tricycle. We've only had it for a week, but my 2 year old daughter's eyes when it was put together and her command, "outside," say it all.

Pleasant surprise to find the Schwinn quality still in tact. Sound body construction, heavy duty tires. By far better than any of those plastic models! I feel secure in allowing my [...] grandaughter ride. Recommended to Family for a neice 1000 miles away!

[+] 10.0 Awesome Tricycle!
We bought this for our son's second birthday, and while we still have to help him ride it a great deal, he just adores it! It was easy for my husband to put together and is so flashy! The bell is a hit too! He is the envy of the neighborhood! (Just kidding!)

[+] 10.0 A Good Trike
I bought this one for my son's 2nd birthday after reading all the good reviews. It came very nicely. Easy to assemble, fun to ride on. My boy is 37" tall at 2, 90% tile, and he can just reach the padels. On the box of this trike however, the recommeded ages were listed as 1 1/2 to 4, heights were 26" to 38" that are very misleading. As to the smell some people complained, I agree that the tires do smell pretty strong. But the smell is just like any other new rubber tires. Why some ones want to keep the trike indoor? It is supposed to be used outside. I smelled nothing when we went out to ride. My son is very happy with his trike.

[+] 10.0 Cool Trike!!!!!
Schwinn Roadster 12-Inch Trike (Multiple Colors)

This is not your traditional trike! Everyone who sees our son on it has something positive to say about it and wants to know where we bought it. This is one cool ride for a toddler!

[+] 8.0 Super Cool but.....
First one arrived very well beaten. The packing is horrible for shipping. The bike had multiple dings and scratches. The replacement bike was received quickly from Amazon. I was a little let down with the quality though. Reasons being stickers in place of painting on some parts. Handle bar attachment hardware kind of cheap and still seams loose. Still some dents on the fenders but hardly noticeable All in all my 2 year old will beat this thing up anyways. I just wished it came with better fit and finish for an American Classic brand. This is the problem with most American products these days though. Oh, and if anyone cares this product is now manufactured in CHINA.

[+] 10.0 Great Trike!
Bought this for my 2 year old grandson - he absolutely loves it! My husband and I assembled it quite easily, and we are not mechanically gifted at all. It is very sturdy and the adjustable seat is a really good idea. My grandson doesn't quite have the pedaling down yet, but he uses his feet to scoot all over the house and down the street. This is a trike that he will use for a long time, and it's built to last.

[+] 6.0 Great bike...packed poorly for shipping.
We shopped around looking for the best bike for our son's 2 year B-Day and settled on this bike because of it's reviews. So far all that was said is true; this bike fits our son well: it does not tip over, it is easy to maneuver, he looks forward to being on his big boy bike everyday. It even fits our 5year old! But with all that being said; for the price that we paid it came to us in pretty bad condition. The frame had a few dings in it that caused paint to come off, the front tire tube had a hole in it and the tire fenders were bent. This all could have been different if the bike had been packaged better. All in all once we fixed the tire, the bike is wonderful, but I am dissapointed in how much it cost for what we got!

[+] 10.0 pink roadster
After reading other reviews I was afraid that this trike would be too small for my 4 year old granddaughter. It was perfect and will fit her for at least another year or two. Since she is the Princess of Pink, her eyes about popped out of her head when she saw it!

[+] 10.0 Best Trike Ever!
We bought my daughter this tricycle in pink for her 2nd birthday and she was amazed! If fact all of the adults were amazed too! Personally, I like the classic features and the fact that she can ride so low to the ground and doesn't tip when she turns or goes fast (low=short falls). There are several other tricycles out there to choose from, but none looked as stylish or as safe for my daughter as this one. I would recommend this trike to anyone looking and I would buy this again for future children. There isn't a day that doesn't go buy that my daugter doesn't ride her trike, so worth the money!!!

[+] 10.0 fantastic little trike
I purchased this trike for a four-year-old's birthday gift. I hesitated as many other reviews said this was for a younger child, but it got such raves that I took the plunge and made the purchase. I'm so glad I did!

The look on this kid's face when he unwrapped the box was priceless - such pure joy. He's been riding it endlessly.

We live on a ranch with rough dirt roads, so many of the other "Big Wheel" type bikes we looked at were inadequate for our ranch roads, and a 2-wheeled bike with training wheels was too unsteady on the rough roads. The Schwinn Roadster rides beautifully on dirt roads.

Reasons we love it:
- It sits low to the ground so won't tip over like conventional tricycles.
- The seat has a back on it to keep child from sliding backwards.
- Real bicycle tires make for a smoother ride and grip the road.
- Chrome fenders, bright paint, streamers on handles and wooden running board make the bike look so cool!

If your child is too young for a 2-wheeled bike, the Schwinn Roadster is definitely worth consideration.
I highly recommend this bike.

[+] 10.0 Love this Trike
I bought this tricycle for my grandaughter who is 3 1/2 - she is tall for her age and this tricycle is perfect for her. The quality is very good and she will be able to ride it for a few years and then her brother will get it. I was worried about it upsetting when she turned a curve, but no problems at all. She rides it on our patio and down a ramp at a pretty good speed then around the patio table but still it does not upset. I highly recommend it!

[+] 4.0 Disappointed
I bought this trike for my 20 month old daughter from the review and I liked the way it looked. However, after just a few days I was disappointed with the trike. First off, the triked has a toxic smell that won't go away. I had to store it outside the house. After just hours after pumping the tires with air, the front tire got a flat. The ringer on the handle bar is also poorly design. My daughter keeps taking it a apart, and parts fell off. I would not buy or recommending buying this trike again.

[+] 10.0 love this bike
I bought two bikes for my 2 year old twin grandchildren They can't peddle yet,but they can still use them with their feet on the ground.
Their 4 year old brother loves this bike. He uses the one and the
girls share the other. What is great about this bike is that
it doesn't tip over like a taller bike would. It is a very strong and
sturdy bike.

[+] 10.0 Amazing bike!
This bike is wonderful! It is really easy to put together, is packaged fantastically (each piece individually wrapped to ensure no scratches, dents, or dings during shipping), super easy to put together, and the design is great. I really love that the base is wider than most bikes for more stability and that the seat sits lower than other bikes. We got the pink and it is absolutely adorable. It was a little more than I wanted to spend on a bike, but after receiving it and seeing the quality first hand, I do not regret this purchase one bit. If our next child is a boy, I will not hesitate to purchase another bike in a "boy color". If you are even considering this bike, just buy it! You will not be diasappointed!

[+] 8.0 Great bike for shorties
This trike is lower to the ground than most, so it doesn't easily tip...really great for my daredevil son. My only complaint was that it arrived with the front tire deflated, and the tube ended up needing to be replaced.

Built very strong. Low to the ground so it won't tip over. A screwless setup for seat adjustments would have been nice. Apart from that, the trike is perfect.

[+] 10.0 sweeeet!
This has to be the coolest thing in trikes. My 2 year old loves it. He is way into motorcycles, and this trike really makes him feel cool-like he is on a motorcycle...the grips, tassles, handle bars... It has a good amount of adjustment in the seat for growth. It is made very solidly. I don't think you could have enough kids to wear it out as a hand-me-down.

[+] 8.0 great tricycle
My kid loves this tricycle. Everyone thinks it's the coolest they've seen. It can be a little hard to push the pedals but other than that it's great.

[+] 8.0 She loves it!
I had the original Radio Flyer, and I was leaning that way. But it looked top heavy, so I went with this, which had elements of the Radio Flyer look. I'm glad I did! Even as low as the seat is, my 3 year old still can flip it over. I like the air filled tires too - good for the many bumps on our road.

The only beefs I have are that the handle bar twists and the front tire wasn't installed properly on the wheel. But for the price, it's a great deal.

And she loves it!

[+] 10.0 Highly Recommended!
Highly Recommended! Nice trike! Not like what you'll find at Wal-Mart. My 50#, 3 foot tall, almost 4 year old loves it. I had to move the seat almost all the way forward - (there's still a couple of clicks left) - in the adjustment notches for her in order for her to be able to really crank on the peddles, so it's not for you average 3 year old (my girl is big) unless you have a flat, paved surface to ride on. There seems to be plenty of room for her to grow and still enjoy her trike. Plus, it seems well made and sturdy. We live in the country and our drive way is gravel. With the air-filled tires it's easier to peddle around. So far, so good.

[+] 8.0 Please note, it's a really nice trike but, it's too HEAVY
I almost give it 5 stars, I got the red and black, the moment my son saw this trike he loved it and was excited. This trike is really nice and easy for my 3 year old son to ride. Two things I dislike about this trike is, it's really HEAVY and BIG, if I had known, I would have looked for something much lighter.

[+] 10.0 Love this!!!!
My mom bought this trike for my daughter's 3rd birthday. i was hesitant at first because the box says the age starts at 1 1/2 years (although online i had seen that it starts at 3). we put it together easily, and my daughter instantly loved it. we even had to put it in the smallest setting, so i know she'll get several years out of it. she is so great on it, too. i know if i would've gotten her one of those small bikes, she would turn over on it all the time. but the schwinn roadster doesn't tip with her sharp and fast turns. we all love it!

[+] 4.0 Good looking bike, poor quality tires
This is a good looking bike, what got me to buy it but the quality of the tires leaves much to be desired. They get flat easily, loose pressure and its a constant hassle to keep them pumped up. The spokes coming from the wheel hub to the wheel edge are so roughly put in that they cut the tube even when its not being used. In my case they cut through the inner lining and then through the tube. Not a good quality considering the schwinn name. Not recommended.

[+] 10.0 I love this trike!!!
I bought the red Schwinn roadster trike for my nephew's 2nd birthday. I had previously spent a fortune on a Kettler trike for my niece on her 2nd birthday, and was unhappy with the quality of the Kettler. This time, after much research, I picked the Schwinn.

The trike was easy to assemble and looked fantastic. All the adults at the party thought the trike looked cool. (An uncle said he wished it came in an adult size.) The tots were off and pedaling in no time. The wide, low-riding structure helped them stay balanced and prevented tip-overs. It was easy for little legs to pedal. I trust the Schwinn name for quality and durability; this is an excellent trike for the money.

This is a perfect first trike; and I know it will give my nephew years of safe, comfortable fun.

[+] 10.0 Best trike EVER!
This is a great trike - sturdy and easy to ride. Low to the ground so it's harder to tip (but still does if the speed is fast and the turn is sharp). It was for my son's 3rd birthday - he already knew how to pedal and was constantly trying to ride our daughter's 12" bike. They both love the it. Took my husband less than an hour to put it together. Looks great. Can't say enough about it.

Had three others: Radio Flyer w/handle for us to push - YUCK!!! Horrible for us to steer and tipped constantly. Had another either Radio Flyer or Roadmaster given to us as a gift - just like what I grew up with back in the early 70s but no where near as sturdy. My brother would pedal and I would stand behind him. There was no way it was going to happen with this one! Also had a plastic Barbie trike - it was inside the house and was fun but it broke within three months.

Don't waste your money on anything else, can't praise this one enough.

[+] 10.0 Best Trike for Your Money
I purchased the blue and the pink Schwinn Roadster 12-inch trikes for my 20-month old twins as an early birthday present before the hot summer months arrive. I searched the internet and local stores for about 2 weeks before settling on this model, mainly because of the great reviews it has received and because these are just so darn cute! I bought these on a Saturday and received VERY QUICKLY, the following Wednesday.

It took me about 15 minutes to put the first one together, WITH my kids walking around trying to "help" me. The second one only took about 10 minutes to put together. SUPER easy! All you need is an adjustable wrench and a screwdriver. There were only 4 parts to put together. You can't beat that!

I LOVE how cute these are. They are so sturdy. I love the inflatable tires since we have a huge yard that would be hard to peddle around in with plastic wheels. There are about 4 or 5 adjustment holes for the seat position too, as well as plenty of growing room with the handlebars too. I have these set at the shortest/closest positions for my 20-month olds and they can almost reach the peddles now. They love to "ride" these by pushing with their feet. Oh, and the little bells on the handlebars are too cute! My kids figured out how to make those ding in no time. There is not one bad thing I can say about these trikes. I am extremely pleased with the quality and the price.

Love it, love it and love it. Super fast shipping. I bought this for my granddaughter who just turned 3 years old. Easy to assemble and great quality for a tricycle. She not only loves the tricycle, but has a blast with the bell. This tricyle is made like the bike of yester years. Super price on Amazon along with the free shipping. I would recommend this product to all who are considering the first tricyles. A+A+A+

[+] 10.0 Good tricycle.
This is a very good tricycle. Easy Assembly! When I say easy, I was actually disappointed I didn't get to assemble much of it! This tricycle is very sturdy and is difficult to tip when the child is seated. All tricycles suffer from tipping but this seems to be the sturdiest. I believe the product said it was meant for ages 2 1/5 on up, which it is really true to that, as my son is 2 and at the 95% in height standing 37". He has great difficulty extending his legs to the pedals when moving. We have the seat all the way up and he can barely touch the far pedal when rotating. Other than that I have no complaints. It is durable and has a good weight to it. Some folks complain about the overall weight but they will be buying lots of band-aids as the weight helps keeps the wheels down on turns. Overall, I would definitely recommend.

[+] 10.0 Better than Radio Flyer...!
Like another reviewer, we got the classic red (not Mickey Mouse)... my six kids have all grown up on various Radio Flyer tricycles... but when the next.to.last 'hand.me.down' RF finally started falling apart, we decided to explore some more recent designs especially for their safety features... wow, Schwinn has designed what could possibly be the Perfect Tricycle...! assembled in less than 5 minutes, low center of gravity for stability, air.filled high.texture tires for traction with reasonable rolling resistance, ergonomic (and moderately adjustable) seat, great styling, reasonable price, and even a classic bell sound... we noticed right away that our youngest did not tip over as he did with the RF trikes when he made his usual tight turn in the driveway... the only possible negative we've seen is that the grips of the handlebars swing into a rider's chest when they attempt a very tight turn (of more than 90 degrees)... for us this has been the nearly ideal combination of Schwinn quality, "Big Wheel" stability and maneuverability, and Radio Flyer classic styling... A++...!

[+] 10.0 I can not say enough great things about this bike!
First off, how cool looking is this bike?! I have the coolest pre-schooler in the neighborhood!

We gave our daughter the pink one for Christmas. We did a lot of research and put a lot of thought into our selection. We were not let down at all!

It has a low center of gravity. Not even something I considered being important before I started researching which bike we wanted to get her. This was going to be her first tricycle.. and frankly, being related to me means she predisposed to being a total klutz. It's pretty darn hard to tip over. The bike is sturdy and solid.

Did I mention how cool it looks? After my husband assembled it, I caught him in the garage on X-mas even polishing the crome. I think he was a bit jealous.

Our daughter was literally riding around the neighborhood like a pro from the start! It has an adjustable seat, so it didn't matter too much in regards to how tall she is.

My 1 and only complaint... the bike is so nice looking, we can't seem to find a helmet as cool as her bike. Oh well, princess Dora will have to do for now.

[+] 10.0 So cute!
We ordered this trike for our son's 2nd birthday. It is sooo cute! It really looks expensive and we love the "retro" look of it. The best feature is how low to the ground it is, and the wide wheel base that makes tipping over almost impossible. Our son's legs are still a little short to actually push the pedals (he can reach them though) but we think he'll get it by the summer. He loves the bell and enjoys just pushing himself along the sidewalk. It's very sturdy and a great buy!

[+] 10.0 Great trike
I love this trike and so does my daughter. The trike is still a little big for my 2½ years old daughter. But she can just exactly ride it. The seat is ajustable and the trike is made of materials that will last. My daughter will be enjoying it for years. The back wheels are far apart - which means that it does not tip over easily. Its a bit heavy to carry. The bike is much better than the ones I have seen in stores like Wal-mart and ToysRus.

[+] 10.0 Heirloom Quality - A REAL Classic!
Absolutely solid construction, heavier than others, and a low center of gravity. The trifecta of a good tricycle! This is the winner - stop searching Amazon. It's very easy to assemble it in minutes, as well!
Here are some highlights:
*Nice solid bucket seat with an easy grip handle for you to carry it around. The tricycle stays level when you lift it from the handle - no tilting to one side. It adjusts into several positions as he/she grows.
*Excellent tires - they ride on everything: grass, rocks, brick, and probably even frozen tundra.
*Solid wooden step-board, with branded logo is strong, sturdy, and makes the styling classic.
*Plus, don't forget the hard chrome fenders to avoid tire burns, cool tassles, and solid-molded pedals.
SUGGESTION ON HEIGHT: If your child is AT LEAST 35" tall, he/she should be able to pedal the tricycle. No doubt they LOVE to scoot around on it if they are shorter than that. But if you're buying this to pedal right away, then 35"+ should do it. The age doesn't really matter, but my child was 2y 1m old when he sat on it for the first time.
You will love this tricycle!

[+] 8.0 Very cute trike
This is a perfect trike for any little Mickey fan. We got this for our sons second birthday. He is tall for his age so it works well...But it may be a little big for some two year olds. The seat can be adjusted to work with your childs height so it should last for some time. It was very easy to put together and is very durable. My son has tested it alot and it has no breaks or cracks. I highly recommend it. The only issue I have with it are the tires. I thought they were rubber but they are plastic. Not sure how that'll work outdoors...but other than that it is great.

[+] 10.0 LOVE it
This has been a great tricycle for my 2 1/2 year old daughter. She loves it, and it has a very stable center of gravity. It is a beautiful tricycle; the color is great (my daughter LOVES pink) and the little bell is cute. It NEVER tips over. She has ridden on friends' tricycles that have tipped over because the seats are positioned higher. As long as your child's legs are long enough, this is the tricycle to get!!! I wouldn't buy it if your toddler is really petite, which mine isn't. If they are average size I think you'd be okay. Like I said, I gave it to my daughter when she was 2 1/2 and it seemed like the perfect age, plus she was the perfect size for it.

[+] 10.0 Great Tricycle
We got this in red (not Mickey version) for our two-year old for Christmas. It is a great tricylce. It's sturdy and I love that the seat has a back to it so he doesn't fall out. His legs are not long enough yet to reach the pedals, but it sits low enough to the ground that he can use his feet to propel the bike forward or backward. The funky retro design looks great. I'm sure he'll be riding this for quite a while.

[+] 10.0 My daughter is the envy of all her peers!
We did a lot of research before buying this tricycle, and are so pleased with our purchase. This trike is very sturdy and a smooth and comfortable ride. The seat is low to the ground, so it's not at all tippy like so many other trikes seem to be. It's good looking too. We've gotten many compliments on it, with people wondering where we got it. Sure there are less expensive tricycles out there but this one is good value and worth the price.
