[+] 2.0 This product is outdated and needs to be melted down.
I purchased this in hopes of being updated in my calendar. After opening it and hoping to connect with my computer, the device comes with an outdated 5 pin connecter and the quality of this item was equal to my four year olds toys. The plastic is cheap and the product reflects this. I contacted the seller who told me they do not accept any returns. What are the odds of someone not accepting any returns when they sell electronics. This product is aweful.

[+] 8.0 Nice little organizer
This was one of the simpler and smaller memory personal organizers made by Sharp and worked well for our uses for a number of years, until we replaced it with a fancier Palm Pilot TE. We never used the computer synchronization system. But as a pocket organizer, and personal reminder and address book, this unit was just fine.

[+] 4.0 "Where's my back-up?"
I purchased two of these about three years ago and gave one to my mother. We use them every once in a while. I later replaced the batteries, and when I turned the units on, I noticed parts of the numbers and letters were missing. Needless to say, this is very upsetting! So I'm warning you, if you have one, you better get a back-up before it's too late.

This product is great, the only thing it is missing is a calender to help you plan your schedule!

it set up. Some of the numbers and letters don't display clearly. It's ok but not great.

[+] 8.0 What she wanted!
My 9 year old daughter has wanted a palm organizer since the first time she watched the movie The Cat in the Hat with Dakota Fanning. It was difficult to find exactly what we were looking for because today everything comes with a cellphone and we are not yet ready for her to have one. This little PDA is great! I once had a Palm Pilot and I have to say, this is much easier to use and has great features. The price is a fraction of what a Palm cost. So far we are very pleased with its performance.

I had great expectations for this item but I found it awkward and unfriendly to use. What a dissapointment.

[+] 8.0 basic, functional
It's definitely not fancy, but if you just want a very basic organizer without all the extra bells and whistles then this fits the bill with a very reasonable price. Memo has only one-line display so you can't see all the words unless using the arrow key. Mostly I just use it as a to-do list and for jotting down some mental notes to myself. For the price it is what I expected, and it's convenient.

It doesn't come with a stylus pen though. I use a ball-point pen (ink has ran out), and it works fine.

[+] 2.0 Piece of junk!
Like a similar Sharp item I ordered and received, this is a piece of junk. To make matters worse, after the package has been opened, the item cannot be returned for credit--other than opening and attempting use of the product can a person determine its usefulness?

[+] 4.0 Good product - would try something else
I liked this product a lot - at least the idea of it with less of a price tag. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for in this case.

The stylus will 9 times out of 10 bring up the letter next to the one you are trying to use, the phone book is set up weird, the appointments/memos start in date order and the format of them are odd. There's not much room to write. You constantly need to switch between numbers and letter keyboards and it just gets to be a pain by the end of entering 1 contact or appointment. The translater is a little hard to use - sometimes it won't bring up words or it will bring up a completely different word that has those letters in it. I would definitely not rely on it if that's a reason you're getting this product

The only thing I use it for anymore is the pedometer and the games. I would have to say - go ahead and pay a little more with something that is better quality.

[+] 6.0 Good cheap electronic organizer
Easy to operate. Some inconvenience with the limited (36) number of symbols in the schedule mode. English-Spanish translator and Diet Function Mode just use the memory. Overall - good for its price.

[+] 2.0 Simple
If all you want is a phone list this is the item for you. BUT if you are interested in adding addresses this organizer lacks! It only allows you to input addresses as oneliners which means you have to scroll to read the complete address. I would not buy this again.

This was not up to Sharp's standards. I can't get it to do anything like put an address in and keep it. Read the instructions several time and can't get it to work.

[+] 6.0 Nothing fancy
The linking to Outlook on your computer doesn't work, as many of the reviews I had read stated, but I just wanted a simple device to hold passwords and addresses to replace an old organizer I had. If you want something a bit "cutting edge", look elsewhere, if you want something cheap and basic, this might be an option.

[+] 10.0 Love the Organizer!!!!!
This is the second Sharp YO-P20HII Organizer w/Pen that I have owned. The first one I purchased through Radio Shack lasted me for 2 years. There is so much memory on this organizer. It has two separate phone directories (1 for personal information and 2 for business information). When my organizer finally died I went back to Radio Shack to purchase another one, however the company no longer had it in stock. I went online and found that Amazon carried the same type of organizer. I definitely would recommend anyone this item.

[+] 6.0 VERY basic
With 2 disabled children, I needed something that could help me keep track of appointments and organize my busy day. The "schedule" is pretty much just a list. I would have preferred some sort of calendar view. I pretty much use it as an electronic pad of paper; recording things while on the go until I can get them down at home. The "memo" list keeps everything in alphabetical order and reverts to the beginning every time you delete something. Mildly annoying to me. I probably would not buy this again, but you can't expect much for $20 these days.

[+] 4.0 It is what it is
This is a good organizer for someone who is in middle or high school. Or maybe even for someone who loses things easily so does not want to spend a lot of money on an actual palm. Its okay for what it is but it did not fit my needs. I ended up having to buy an actual palm and I gave this organizer to my little sister to play with.

[+] 8.0 PDA-lite
I have owned two Palms and two iPacs which kept me organized when I was a manager. I have broken three PDA's over the last six years. Now I am retired and decided I should try something that had a lower cost, but provide me with some of the organizational features I like in a handheld.
This orgnizer fills my needs for addresses, notes, and calendar.
One of the features I really appreciate is the thin, lightweight, flip-open, protective case. I purchased an extra organizer for a 6th grader. She read through the instructions and mastered the instructions in less than an hour.
This organizer is an excellent value for basic use.
If you are addicted to Palms or Window systems, prepare to take time to learn how to use this organizer. If you want to add software, you will need to consider more expensive options.

[+] 8.0 Good Organizer for me
I'm fourteen and I got this to put my schedule in it for work. I don't start working again until April but so far, this is working pretty good for me. The price was fair and the delivery was fast. I got my package 3 days before the estimated arrival date. It works good, but you have to push the buttons just right for them to work sometimes. The manual is semi-confusing, still haven't figured out how to set an alarm in the schedule. The manual says that you can, but doesn't tell how. I haven't used everything, but so far thats the only issue.

[+] 2.0 Poor buying experience- disappointing unit - no help
This product was purchased to help a student with organization. It arrived minus a stylus and with a previous user's data still on it. An e-mail to the vendor yielded a form response and no help. A follow-up e-mail produced the stylus some four weeks after delivery of the Organizer. Of the product itself, the display is dark and hard to read, and the alarm for the to-do list is all or nothing. One cannot set the alarm for selected events - something that was not clear from the description. Furthermore, documentation shows a procedure for setting the alarm that includes tapping a symbol that doesn't exist on the display. A request for help on the Sharp site, has yet to provide any assistance two weeks later. Poor buying experience and disappointing unit. Recommend spending more and getting a unit with better features and from a different manufacturer.

[+] 4.0 Disappointed
I bought this as a gift for my wife. Instructions that came with product are confusing and unclear. Took a long time to find buttons on screen mentioned in instructions. Important things like the menu button hard to find, and although have had product for a few weeks still haven't found menu button on some screens. Lighting is very poor very hard to read screens output. Letters are large enough for the most part but lighting to poor to read.
Functionality is fine if you can see results. Overall, expected a little better product.
Synchronizing only works with Outlook not with outlook express.
I am still considering returning.

Best pda you can have if you want the basics. It only has 1mb of memory if your thinking that 1mb on a handheld makes it worthless...its not! 1mb is overkill for it not only that but it has a built in keyboard, backlight, flip cover,2 games, the batterys last unlike normal battery powerd handhelds, you can drop it from 2 storys onto hard wood and it still works, built in english spell checker, english to spanish tanslater, alarm clock & its only 20 bucks. If your new to pdas or just looking for a cheap little back up this is the one.

[+] 8.0 Good buy
After reading the previous reviews on this organizer I purchased one myself. The one thing I would like to comment on that others did'nt is that this model only comes with a serial port hookup, so if you have a newer computer or laptop without a serial port your going to be looking for a cheap serial to usb converter like i did. Make a note!

[+] 6.0 Didn't last long
at my house. Purchased for 11 year old boy. A few weeks being tossed around in the backpack was the end of it. The screen was hard to view, not enough definition. After using my Palm with color and great graphics, it looked cheap and tacky. Worked well enough for what it was, but not very hardy. It really needs a better cover to protect the screen from scratches (and from being shattered, which is what happened to this one).

i have 3+ phone numbers for many of my friends, but this organizer only lets me enter two of them. plus, after you enter the phone #, it doesn't let you type "cell" or "work" or "home" or anything to let you know which # it is! for $19 i won't complain too much, and it's nice to have as a backup in case my other organizer fails me for some reason, but i was hoping for a bit more capabilities.

[+] 8.0 good value
Just purchased this handy little item as I wanted to test the PDA waters before jumping in on a more expensive model. It works great for what I use it for, phonebook, scheduling, notes, etc... Would be nice if you didn't have to scroll to see entire address lines and if it had a search mode for the scheduler, but very good value overall. If you don't need email, video, phone, etc., then this is definitely worth checking out. Touchpad screen is remarkably accurate and easy to use.

[+] 4.0 Hidden calendar?
I have an old Sharp organizer that I have happily used since 1998. My husband had its twin, and recently lost it. So, I picked this up as a replacement. Because mine has a nice calendar display it never occurred to me that this unit's "scheduler" as advertised on the blister pack didn't include a calendar. I probably spent half an hour trying to "find" a calendar and found the unit easy to use and a pretty self explanatory manual. But, I certainly would find it more useful with a calendar. Anyone else miss this feature? Or, better yet, anyone else find a hidden calendar?

[+] 8.0 You can't beat the price
I bought this organizer to keep track of my schedule and to-do list. It took a couple days to get used to some of its quirks, but overall it was a good purchase. The sync to/from Outlook is not perfect, but it's better than nothing.

One thing I don't like is that the To-Do list has Date and Time fields, because the Scheduler has that too. This confuses me because the To-Do list items are then sorted by Priority (I think?), so the To-Do list's Date and Time you input are useless if you use the Scheduler too.

I also don't like the fact that there is no Month or Week view on the Clock/Date mode. I am a visual person, so I'd rather have a visual cue to let me know what date next Thursday is, rather than having to count on my fingers.

[+] 8.0 a simple organizer for a simple life
This is either the third or fourth organizer I've bought. Mostly I went for an inexpensive model because I keep losing the silly things. Or they got buried somewhere during a move. At any rate, I wanted something small that could handle the modest uses to which it would be put. Keeping a list of phone numbers, addresses, appointments, notes, the calculator wasn't a deal breaker but it's a nice bonus. I have also found that the belt clip on the case fits nicely into the side of my wallet. It's an easy take-along now when all I need grab is my wallet and the car keys and I'm on my way. The logic escapes me why Sharp put the tone on/off option under the clock instead as part of an initial setup program. Speaking only for myself, I didn't need a $300 mover and shaker handheld organizer, I'm not running the world from City Hall. It's light, convenient, good display, and serves the purpose for which I intended it.

[+] 10.0 Great little organizer for basic things
Take it from a highschooler, I really needed something like this for remembering school homework, assignments and such. I wasn't sure whether to get it or not by the reviews similar items got. The reason why this one caught my eye is because it was very inexpensive, in fact a great price for something like this. Of course a lot of you may know I don't have the money to be spending three to four hundred dollars for a small hand held computer that a lot of the things I wouldn't need on it.

I found the Sharp YO-P20H Organizer to be a lot more helpful than I had even expected. It had a neat calculator for doing math problems, an english spanish translator, phonebook, memo pad, reminder, clock, a few games, and a schedule which I'll all need of course. It even has an alarm on the schedule to help remind you of things you forget just in case.

Last year when I was fourteen, I mailed in for a PDA organizer on the back of a honeycomb cereal box. It was a great little gadget, lasted me a long time, and was almost exactly like this one, but then when I set the alarm, it froze and I was never able to use it again. Now being fifteen I have a lot more to worry about in school, but I was never able to remember homework with my notebooks because I hardly ever look in those. After a stressful day, you just don't want to have anything to do with work or school, but looking at your organizer will sure help because you turn it on to check some things out and you find you have to do something, and this one is for sure to do the trick.

And for a such a good priced little palm pilot, it sure is good quality. It'll hold a lot of information, plus it'll even hook up to your computer with the cord it comes with. You won't regret buying it if you're a busy person. Plus, you might not be able to spend nearly half a grand on an expensive one. You need fast accesability, and that's exactly what I found with this. Five stars instantly.

[+] 6.0 Eh, it's all right.
I recently bought this organizer to keep up with my new schedule as a grad student and teaching assistant and to keep from lugging around a big leather planner. I can be sort of scatterbrained, so I really needed something like this. Maybe you'll like it more than I do, but here's what I think.

The best feature of the device is its ability to sync with Microsoft Outlook. That way, you just enter schedule and address book info into your PC and import it to the organizer. The software that allows this, included with the organizer, isn't the most user-friendly I've ever seen, but it's adequate. I like the idea of pen-thouch screens, and my mom has a Palm Zion, so I've used them before. This one isn't all that great though, because sometimes if you angle the pen to input something, you end up triggering the wrong things. It's also very hard to see sometimes, because the on screen buttons are so teeny-tiny.

I'd also like to have seen something a little bit more self-explanatory. I'm having a hard time figuring out certain features. Maybe I'm idealistic, but I think things like this ought to be really simple to operate. Learning which menu does what is taking longer than I expected, and when to hit "edit" and when to hit "enter," things like this. I'm pretty good at learning new computer systems, but for some reason this device is working on me.

In short, if you've got the money, spend it on a Palm. If you don't, I'd shop around before I picked this up on a whim.

[+] 10.0 Great little organizer!
After years & years of carrying a planner (I'm pretty much a completely obsessive-compulsive person when it comes to organization - at least that's what I've been told), I finally decided to break down and try an electronic organizer. It just seemed like it would be so much easier to grab and go instead of my big planner (which I love by the way.) I knew I couldn't afford a Palm or any similar PDA so I decided to do some research. Realistically, I figured I wouldn't need to do 1/2 of the stuff some of the more expensive PDA's were offering - I really just needed the basics - telephone/address, to do, memo, and a calendar - which was everything my paper planner had.

If you're this type of a person, this organizer is probably for you! Another review suggested checking out Radio Shack, and I'm glad I did. There happened to be 2 more left on clearance for $17.97 (I also got a basic leather case there on clearance for $9.99). It's only been 1 day, and I'm so glad I bought this model. What a great value for the price!

My only complaint is exactly what another reviewer said - you can only put the address on one line. Once you get used to that, it's pretty much a breeze to figure out. I've only looked at the manual (which is pretty comprehensive) briefly because a lot of the functions and buttons are pretty self-explanatory. All-in-all, I'm so happy with my purchase!
