Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus Graphing Calculator

The calculator I receive is quite good. Except it's not really silver, to be accurate, it's transparent.
P.S: The Newest version of Ti series is Ti-89, which includes more functions than Ti-83. I would have bought Ti-89 if I knew this earlier.

Great transaction! Will do business again - items were just as advertised. TI83+ is a great calculator - easy to use, but advanced enough to help with any science problem you'll encounter.

This is a great product and was in the condition described. However, the keys tend to stick. It hasn't caused any problem, but it makes a loud click when I press the keys.

It is a little confusing but I'm getting the hang of it. The one thing I really don't like about it is that it has a name scratched into the front of it.

Texas instruments has not significantly changed either the price or the calculator in the decade since I purchased mine. I have to imagine that their prices have not changed because they are the only company on the planet still purchasing 24kb ram chips and low resolution screens. This calculator probably costs them 2 dollars to make and they continue to overcharge because they have a completely captive market in schools. I imagine if you are purchasing this, you don't have a choice, but if you do, this antiquated piece of junk should be avoided at all costs.

I've had mine since pre-algebra and am still using it for differential equations and linear algebra. Although I have a ti-89 I still prefer the 83+ for its ease of use. It's also built to last. I've dropped mine on concrete, tile, and linoleum and it still works as well as the day I bought it. The only thing that has worn off are the rubber pads used to make sure it doesn't slip.

It works perfectly for matrix manipulation, plotting xy graphs (you can use it to help integrate in 3-D if you know what you are doing.) One thing that stands out is that all the buttons you will need are not in some submenu like they are on the 89; instead on the 83+ the most you will need to do to access things like Euler's identities or natural logs is push the 2nd button (akin to alt on a keyboard).

The 89 does beat it in it's ability to draw detailed graphs, graph in 3-D (which the 83+ can't do), integrate (83+ can't do) and some other things. However, if you are taking advanced math classes most instructors will want you to show your work so the 83+ is all you really need.

One thing I do recommend getting for this is a pack of rechargeable batteries like the SANYO eneloop 4 Pack AA NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries. Don't take this to mean that this calculator is a battery hog, in fact I usually go a whole year without recharging them which is great considering I use this thing almost everyday and carry it around everywhere.

Yes you can play simple games and yes you can store equations on this to look at *cough* during a test *cough* but don't think that this is just a glorified 3x5 card.

I would go so far to say that this is my most used electronic item I own. If I ever lost mine I would overnight one from Amazon without hesitation.

Definitely a must for engineers and math majors.

The calculator is in good condition and the only things about it that is bad were described in the description prior to the purchase.

This is a great device. It got here very quickly and was just what I was expecting.

i received the product really fast. it does what it needs to do and overall im happy with my buy. the cover doesnt stay on though; it will slide right off. i only need it for a couple of semesters so it will do just fine.

Needed this for my stats class and was too lazy to shell out over [...] bucks for a new one so I ordered refurbished. It came quickly, works great as far as I can tell. My only complaint is that it came with no instructions and as I have no experience with graphing calculators I am utterly lost as to how I use it.

Works well and is necessary for my college level math classes. I would highly recomend getting the "TI-83 for Dummies" book as a companion. The on-line instructions are difficult at best. It also helps to know some one that is familiar with it. Once you figure out a new application it is great.

Thanks for letting me not spend a fortune for my college daughter's calculator! This has worked great! No problems as of yet, and hoping that continues. It didn't come with some cables but we had no need for those anyway and it mentioned that upfront as well. Everything seems like new with it and delivery was super fast! Thanks to this company for providing this service since the brand new calculators' prices are just ridiculous, and this is a good way to save a little money on school supplies!

I bought this calculator after my original TI83 broke. Very good buy, easy to use as long as you read the manual that it comes with. Good product. Works great and is quite easy to use. The screen is clear and easy to read.

I only purchased this item because I had to have it for a class in collage. But what I recieved was a dinged up hunk of junk with a screen that has a line threw it that makes it very hard to read the anwsers to the calculation you put into it. No good, just junk. I could have got a nock off brand from Wallgreens for $14 and it would have dune the job. So to sum up how I feel about this Is I paided to much for a abused and broken calculator.

Ordered on a Saturday....received on Monday. Can't get much faster than that. Product exactly as advertised. Would deal with this seller again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended.

I bought this calculator for $120, and although I had some gripes with the convoluted combination of buttons I had to press in order to get certain results, it worked well and seemed fairly versatile. But one day, five months after I bought it, the display went completely wonky. I performed a master reset, which worked for three days, and then the display screwed up again. Shortly thereafter, the calculator stopped working altogether. I called customer service, and they advised me to try all the things I had already tried. They didn't seem to understand that it wasn't simply out of batteries, but dead. And now I can't return it, having lost the receipt when I moved shortly after buying the calculator (mea culpa, I admit), but for God's sake, I still have the packaging, which has a little box with a serial number and says "Proof of Purchase," but according to TI, does not Prove that it was Purchased. They gave me the options of 1.)Drop $120 on a new calculator, 2.)Drop $170 on our TI 84 Plus, now with extra unnecessary features, or 3.) Have a nice day, sir.

Arrived early, great condition, and my teenage son did not even know it was used!

My teacher asked me to get a TI calculator for my Algebra class. Then, I came up with buying one at amazon.com because it's cheaper than buying at local retail stores with the same quality. Also, the delivery was as described, not fast nor late. I will buy more at this website.

The calculator is perfect. Just be careful when you buy it used that the seller indicates whether or not the owners manual comes with it. Mine did not. Thank goodness for the internet!

I needed to return this product because it didn't work. The down side was this seller didn't check the product before sending. The up side was the customer service was good, and the refund was prompt.

I've ordered used books before through Amazon, but only for my boyfriend. This is the 1st time I've ordered sumtin for myself, and I loved it. The calculator came just in time for school, and the price was way way better then the stores. I haven't encountered any problems thus far, it's almost like buying it brand new.

great calculator. does everything promised. packaged perfectly. came BEFORE expected. ONLY problems: no mention of lacking batteries, which was NOT much of a problem (4 AA); and no booklet to explain functions on calculator, but if you know your way around a TI graphing calculator, you should have no problems picking up this one. If you're wondering about this seller's integrity: I say the price was well-worth it AND I would DEFINITELY shop at this place again. Just ask questions up front if you have any, BEFORE you buy rather than assume.

...but 0 stars for reliability. After 2 years of use, my son's TI-83 Plus is kaput. He cannot see the print on the screen (and, yes, we tried all the "2nd/up" contrast settings, removing the batteries and resetting steps, etc. Even called customer service). They say his silver screen is shot. Only $58.00 to replace with a reconditioned calculator!!
I am inclined to say it's quite a scam that every student in his school is required to buy a TI-83 or 84, because I would love to try a HP to see if the quality is any better. : (

Ti 83 is a very useful machine. It has extended capabilities, and the manufacturer is very supportive to the customers so that they can get the most out of the product.

The communicaciation with this seller was VERY non exsistant. Even tho I was needing to return this product, she failed to return 2-3 e-mails. Would not buy from this person again

This is a great tool for high school math class and even come college level coures.

One rant though is this calculator has been the same for well over 10 years, yet it still cost $100+ (these must cost pennies to make by now)... they should at least update the damn thing so it isn't so ugly. I guess since it's practically required in every school texas instruments doesn't need to bother.

The service was great. After I bought the calculator I had received it within 4 - 5 business days. It was very convenient for me. The calculator was packaged in bubble wrap and came in great condition.

My son wanted TI 83 and i went through all the big/small stores before settling for the cheapest price offered by amazon. since I'm a prime member shipping was free too. The calculator is very good, I know because it is recommended by schools/universities etc. So the price reduction offered by Amazon was truly the deciding factor

My problen is not with the calculator. It is with the cord. I only got 1/2 of the cord. REALLY! 1/2 of the cord! I contacted the seller and got NO! response. I gave this 3 stars because the calculator was fine & 1/2 of a cord (I will have to go buy a new cord)& the no response from seller. If you are big enough to only send 1/2 the cord at least be big enough to respond to the buyer.

I ordered this calculator for my sons statistics class. We were both very pleased. The order arrived quickly, and was in great shape, better than we had hoped.
