[+] 6.0 Definite Disappointment
THE HITS by Faith Hill was a greatly anticipated release. She has developed into a mulifaceted performer starting her career with pure country where she garned a huge fan base. Her eventual crossover to pop country was seamless and she seemed to keep her fan base and added a multitude of more people as well. Some think that CRY was too far removed from her country roots but country fans are faithful and stayed by Faith's side with loyalty.

Then we get this hits collection. A mere one disc that runs only 58 minutes. On this set we also have two new songs and an emphasis on the pop portion of her career. There are only a few songs from her early pure country music thrown in. Also, may of the songs are subpar album cuts and not the best of her work. What does this say to fans? If one did not know who Faith Hill was and was introduced to her by this cd they would have no idea she started as a pure country singer. This cd is in no way a true reflection of the important periods of her career and obviously contains the songs Faith wanted on it.

Add to this the mistake with the song listing order and almost no liner notes. Even if these songs were all here there is 22 minutes of free space on the disc where she could have added the material fans would have wanted. I give this cd 3 stars for her performance on these songs is stellar but I am deeply saddened. A hits collection should always be done for the fans and this cd in no way says "Fans, thanks for your support. Here is a collection of my music you have loved and supported." A waste. Country fans are loyal, but only to a point.

[+] 2.0 extremely dissapointed seriously
ok, ok.. let me start off by saying i have been a huge faith fan since the very beginning. But 13 years into your career and finally putting out a greatest hits album - as a fan i was expecting SO MUCH more to this. there are in fact 15 songs here but some of the BEST singles missing here:
1.someone else's dream
2.there will come a day
3.just to hear you say that you love me
4.but i will
5.let's go to vegas
6.if my heart had wings
7.stealing kisses
8.love ain't like that
9.when the lights go down
10.i can't do that anymore
11.sunshine and summertime
12.you can't lose me
and
13.the lucky one
you would think that a few of these 13 singles could have been added not to mention 2 other ones she sang (that were stand out songs) -
1.the star spangled banner (her performance was spectacular)
2."where are you christmas" the song she sang for The Grinch soundtrack.

this was a very sad release of a greatest hits album. i find there was really no need for a LIVE version of "Stronger" or "I Need You" which was on McGraw's album.

i'm pretty sad i bought the album because MANY of my favorite Faith songs were not included on it.
sorry faith, but i was extremely dissapointed with the whole set.

[+] 4.0 Agree with other reviews, a dissapointment...
I think most of this has been covered but....

1: Many missing hits....(and live versions, UGH)
2:Track listing messed up (out of order which gets confusing if you want to go to a particular track and get wrong song)
3: I HATE carboard packaging, it's flimsy ect and you don't want to take it in the car or whatever cause it will get messed up. I don't understand the aversion to jewel case at all as the vast majority of jewel cases will get recycled anyway after people get rid of thier collections or trade them in.

Overall this release sucks..could have been sooo much better on so many fronts.

Faith Hill is one of the most enjoyable artist that I'm proud to have in my collection. Her voice and music are a true country sound. She is a joy to listen to and I would recommend this CD to anyone.

I can think of some songs songs she left off that should have been added and, on the other hand, there are some songs she has on here that should not be there.

[+] 8.0 The Way I Love Her
I had no experiences about Faith Hill when I bought this collection. I just bought it because I had heard she has a great singing voice and great songs. Yes, she has! The songs like "Mississippi Girl", "Let Me Let Go", "It Matters to Me" etc. give a great impression about Faith Hill. She has great country songs, just like Shania Twain (I had to compare...)! Unfortunately, there's some songs that aren't so good: "Stronger", "I Need You" (with Tim McGraw), and "Lost". These are NEW SONGS. Only "Red Umbrella" is a good one when I listened to the first four songs. After that, it starts the HITS!!! There's many great songs. I have to say that my greatest favs are "Mississippi Girl" and "This Kiss". There's also "Piece of My Heart". Let me tell you that Faith ain't no Janis Joplin but she was able to give a great interpretation of this classic song. This collection is quite short: only 60 minutes! There could have been more songs!
Stars: This Kiss, Mississippi Girl, The Way You Love Me, It Matters to Me, Piece of My Heart

[+] 10.0 " The Hits " sung by ' Faith Hill ', Excellent
I am very pleased to buy and receive the album of " The Hits " sung by ' Faith Hill ' who is one of the fans of her even though its delay owing to the international shipping conditions.

The contents of this album is much more excellent than I expected.

I hope the packing method be changed by from paper to plastic because it make cd scratch easily.

Very best regards Cy Park. South Korea

[+] 10.0 This really is such an amazing album..
I love this cd so much cause it has so many great songs and there's only two songs that I don't really like and I love it when I find an album that I like, if not all, most of the songs on it cause then I'm gonna listen to it all the time and it's not a waste of money and even though there are a couple things I'd change about it (like instead of "Stronger", I think "It's Your Love" should be on there {and I was surprised that it wasn't}, instead of "The Secret Of Life","I Can't Do That Anymore" should take it's place and add "Like We Never Loved At All" and "Where Are You Christmas"), but other than that, for someone who has not purchased any of her other albums, this is the one to start with (like I did with Tim McGraw)!!

[+] 2.0 No surprise
I think it should come as no surprise to anyone who appreciates country music. This woman is about marketing and making money not the music. I heard a new song by her today that is just more inane garbage that has no tonal quality, music quality, or merit on any basis in my opinion. Keep it on the rock channels and give country music fans a break! Problem is rock fans don't want to hear it either. Is there a genre for "void of enjoyment?"

[+] 4.0 Save Your Money : Faith gets it horribly wrong
First of all, to all US Readers, Faith Hill already has a much superior Greatest Hits CD that she released to the rest of the world (can't say why though). That album was called "There You'll Be : The Best of Faith Hill" and is actually available on Amazon right now at almost the same price at this CD. I would suggest - do not even waste your time on this mediocre collection - do go out and get that one immediately.

This CD has nothing going for it. Lets see - only her pop hits, very few songs, flimsy packaging, no new material, and only half the CD's space has been used. Who would buy this?

If you're interested in both quality and value for money, go for "There You'll Be" instead. It has all her greatest country AND pop hits, so its a fair collection indeed.

[+] 8.0 A Good Collection.
Although I do see some flaws with Faith Hill The Hits overall it is a great collection. In my personal opinion she should of included every single and included more than two new songs. (Which were both released to radio before the CD was) All in all a good collection.

[+] 6.0 good - but could have been awesome
I love Faith - but I was a little disappointed that after she expressed on a CMT interview last year that she was going to release a "really special" greatest hits album, she only included about half of her best songs. However, the dvd with the videos was a nice inclusion. I personally did not understand why "Like We Never Loved At All", "I Can't Do That Anymore", "Just To Hear You Say That You Love Me" & "If My Heart Had Wings" (just to mention a few) would NOT be on Faith Hill's greatest hits cd?! It is mildly perplexing...

[+] 10.0 The Hits, hits its Mark!
Faith Hill was destined to be a superstar when she burst on the scene in the 80's with her first hit, "Wild One." Her version of "Take A Little Piece of My Heart," scored big in her young career with a quick follow up of, "It Matters To Me," but her breakout hit came when, "This Kiss," made the world wake up and gain a little FAITH. She continues to shine and grow in her material with pieces like, "Breathe and Cry." In her Hits compilation we are given proof that she can make music that can and will withstand the test of time. Sing along to some of her biggest songs and remember where you were when you first heard her Oscar nominated song, "There You'll Be," at the Academy Awards and then brought the house down during her performance for the 9/11 victims. Faith Hill may take a risk with her music and may not always strike the chord that fans are always familiar with but because she pushes her limits, we gain with songs like, "Lost, Red Umbrella and I Need You." Faith Hill was born to sing and with that gift, we gain sincerity, hope and maybe even, "The Secret of Life."

[+] 10.0 Have a little faith!
Personally, i don't see what all the fuss is about. People seem to love or hate this collection.. i do understand the frustrations of some reviwers. Like where are ALL the 30 or so hits she had? But really, few artists nowadays release career spanning greatest hits until they feel they are done and faith obviously isn't.Other major artists do this all the time. The truth is it is a cynical exercise by the label to make easy money usually in the run up to Christmas but loyal fans who want to hear any new material at all from their artists will want to snap up a collection like this futile as it may seem. I fall in this category here, i like faith. I saw a few new tracks and decided to buy this. I think people need to accept that faith couldn't release all her hits here - no record label in their right mind allows an artist to put all their hits out whilst they still recording.

Fans who are disappointed could accept this and simply enjoy this for what it is... a brief look back - the album itself states it is a colllection of some of her biggest hits. So No great deception her.

I also hae to say it is disheartening to hear fans speak so bitterly about faith. I've read alot of personal comments about faith here.. e.g she's just over the hill, past it, references to her marriage to her second husband. It's childish!

Persoanlly, i think faith puts out great music consistently. I'm willing to listen with an open ear and mind to all her stuff. I felt she got a really hard time with 2002's cry especially but here we are again. Lisyen to any faith song and you know why she picked teh song and how much of her heart she put into the recording. I don't want to sound like i'm a faith fanatic who can't say i like evrything she has ever did but i aalways find something to love in her albums and this collection is no exception. At the end of the day, i think any cd should be judged on the quality of the music.. and this has plenty of her best work and some strong new stuff too. Relax and enjoy.... stop fretting about what can't be changed now. The albums out and it serves as a respectable snapshot of her career to date

[+] 10.0 The hits and then some.
Overall as a hits package this is a great collection. I think the new music added is great. Red Umbrella and Lost should be doing much better on the charts than they are. They are both great new songs. Also, Faith's version of Stronger from the Cry album is out of this world. I think they did a very good job of picking the hits spanning her career thus far. I would definitely recommend.

[+] 10.0 Love Faith...Love this Album!
I was very pleased with the tracks selected for this album. No it is not all of her greatest hits, but it includes ones that span her career. I'm not one to buy a "greatest hits" album released by an artist that I am a true fan of, since I will have all of the albums already, but the extra touches make this one special. My favorite track is the live performance of "Stronger"...it is simply amazing! No, it wasn't a big hit on the charts, but it was a fan favorite at her concerts...now everyone can see why! Keep 'em coming, girl!

[+] 2.0 Not worth the money !
Faith Hill abandoned her Country Music fans who got her where she is. She turned her back on them, and wanted to be a Pop Diva. Her last songs have NOT been doing well at all. She is now at age 40 basically just the Opening Act for her second husband, Tim McGraw. She can not compete with the up and coming 20 year old country singers who are so talented and write all their own songs. She is not even nominated this year for any of the Award Shows. This CD is a desparate act by Faith Hill, as she knows they are calling her Faith over the Hill, and to put those failing 2 songs on a Greatest Hits cd is a rip off to listeners who did NOT go out and buy them before. The choice of songs on this CD is very disappointing and not worth the money.

[+] 10.0 Hearing FAITH on cd and LIVE are both AMAZING!!!
I am a big Faith and Tim Fan and even though I have ALL of their cds. I thought they did a decent job compiling some of her best songs and making a AWESOME cd. Even though I LOVE all her songs, and wish there had been two cds, instead of just one, I ABSOLUTELY can't get enough of the two new songs. Faith, keep it up girl, you are AWESOME!!!

[+] 10.0 Simply Amazing
Having basically every song recorded by Faith and then some, some might think that a Hits album would not be necessary for me to purchase. However, Faith's latest single Red Umbrella is a solid and wonderful addition to this album. It's an uplifting song that can't help cheering me up at anytime of the day. To add a live version of Stronger from her very successful Soul2Soul tour was a wonderful bonus. This song is amazingly soulful and truly shows the depth of her talent. There is something to be said of a Hits compilation which can take many of us back down memory lane and also expose a new generation to music that expanded the country music genre to so many who would otherwise dismiss it. Get this album!! It's a wonderful start/addition to your Faith Hill Collection. :)

I've been a Faith fan for a very long time and in no way am I the least bit disapointed. I feel "The Hits" was well worth the wait. The live version of "Stronger" is absolutely amazing. Faith totally blew me away with this song in concert and the same thing happened listening to the CD. Thank you Faith!!

[+] 10.0 Long time Faith fan
Wow! I thought an artist had the creative freedom, but from what I have read, it seems that some fans expect the artist to just re-release every single song that hit the radio. I enjoy seeing which songs the artist CHOOSES for her collection. As a longtime fan, I have all of her cds. Because of this, I get to enjoy all of Faith's songs, like "You Can't Lose Me" (from the IT MATTERS TO ME CD), "You Belong " (from the CRY CD), and "Me" and "Somebody Stand By ME" (from the FAITH cd). But these were not huge hits or even played on the radio. I guess I think of greatest hits collections like this: You put all of your photos in your photo album like an artist puts her songs on a CD. But then you take the real special ones and place those photos in a frame for anyone to enjoy as they walk into your home just like an artist puts the big songs in a CD for everyone to hear. This does not mean that the other photos or the other songs are not as important. It is just that you can only choose a few to put in a frame or on a greatest hits collection, or you would have cluttered walls or a cluttered CD. Faith, keep being true to yourself. If the music is good, play it loud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[+] 6.0 Where's Disc 2?
Faith Hill has had 30 charting singles. This set has a dozen of them. Someone at Warner Brothers needs to be fired!

[+] 6.0 Where are the rest of the hits?
Faith Hill is a wonderfully talented artist. I agree with the other reviewers who believe this should have been a 2 disc set. Some of the big hits are here, but not all. Maybe a Volume 2 is in the works? Anyway, she's still a great artist, but this compilation does not do her career anything near justice.
Reviewer [ACZ4YI6UWRVOG] | Date [October 7, 2007]
[+] 10.0 Great compilation
I have to say that I was skeptical of this tracklist initially, but realize it's the most effective way to demonstrate Faith's true "hits", without diluting the collection.
And for those criticizing its content, please remember that these types of collections are for casual fans, not hardcore fans which most of you who've written reviews seem to be. All those other songs that you wanted on this collection, you probably already have on another CD/download. Personally, I don't agree with artists that put every song they've released on a compilation album. It's partly narcissistic and wholly unnecessary.

I Red Umbrella and Lost have become two of my favorite Faith songs since their release. RU is fun, and energetic in the same way This Kiss is. And Lost is emotional in the same way Breathe is.
And this rendition of Stronger is simply amazing. If people don't see who the true, great female vocalist Faith is after listening to that, then they must be deaf.

[+] 10.0 All the no. 1 songs are here
I love this hits album from Faith. It includes all of her no. 1 songs, plus a beautiful duet with her husband and two new tunes that are both climbing the charts today. To me the collection reflects the total span of her career and not just the music through the Breathe album as so many other seem to have wanted. To me, the most powerful song on the disc is Stronger...just a beautiful, powerful song that fits Faith so well. Of all of the non-released songs from her albums it is the one that I like the best and this live version is fantastic. The album contains her biggest hits...go to various music web sites and you'll find that the no 1 hits included on this disc are the most popular so I think WB got it right. No, it doesn't include all of her 25 or so top 20 songs but it does contain the biggest hits...true to its title.....and to get a DVD with her top videos is awesome....no home versions are as good. I will be playing this album alot....

This collection is horrible it's missing so many of her classic hits like Take Me As I Am, Someone Else's Dream, You Can't Lose Me, Let's Go To Vegas, If My Heart Has Wings, Love Ain't Like That and You Give Me Love. Why only one song from Fireflies and where's It's Your Love. What did Faith think I Need You was better It's Your Love is her signature Tim & Faith duet. Skip buying this album. Oh and how can they be that lazy to fix the track list. WB Nashville really screwed this album up!

You country folk really need to get over yourselves. Have ya ever heard of saving some for a vol. 2 in a couple years. So its not a double cd like it could have been at double the price. I suggest another helping of grits cause a few reviewers seem full of it and lacking in fiber. They can't please everyone is song choices but this isn't bad. So you'll have some of the good old classics saved for the second hits cd is that such a crime?
