[+] 10.0 Love this phone system.
I was just looking to see if this phone is still around, my neighbor ask me to look for her.(I have had it for a year or so) And reading the reviews I see the complaints on the battery. I don't recall for sure but, I think you were to put it in the charger for something like overnight. (AND NOT USE IT!) I am handicapped and my phone sits near me for DAYS. I don't get it. And if the phone had bad batteries I can't help but think between Amazon and VTECH it would have been taken care of. I am not saying someone couldn't have gotten bad batteries. I am saying I think this is a great phone system that two friends have gotten besides myself and they have no problems.
Good Luck,
Don Lynch

[+] 2.0 Don't Waste Ur Bucks!!!!!
It's the worst phone I ever came across!!While in use it gets disconnected automatically displaying the message 'connecting.'Even if fully charged, the battery dies within 25 mins of use and > 15 mins if on speaker. The sound quality of one handset deteriorated within 6 months of purchase. Both incoming and outgoing calls eventually became unclear.
Their customer service is disgusting.....the rep's r rude. They'll just advise on resetting the battery....not ready to replace.
Dont buy this product.....its an absolute sham!!!

[+] 2.0 battery sucks
phone has cool looks and range, but if your phone suddenly dies after 2 minutes on the speaker (fresh off the charger) u don't care how it looks. it used to switch off the speaker mode and little battery indicator would start blinking so u could keep talking while looking for another handset and then smoothly switch without loosing call. now it just dies. then I pickup another fully charged handset, try to dial and it either works or just dies right away while trying to dial.

[+] 10.0 Very nice!
I know there has been some negative things said about this phone, but so far, I have not had the same experience. My last cordless was completely dead, the charge would die despite replacing the battery and the keypad buttons on the phone no longer worked--so having a functional phone is a great improvement. It can be slightly echo-y at times, but it's just a different phone. I've had this product for about a month now...and it doesn't kick off my wireless connection to my computer like my last phone did. Very happy with this product, thus far.

[+] 10.0 Excellent product!
My previous phone of 5years, finally was put to rest when I purchased this Vi Tech phone system. It is state of the art, slim, works well and is very clear. I am happy with the whole transaction, merchandise and quality. I highly recommend this phone, no complaints here! The answering machine works good also.

[+] 2.0 Lousy battery
Yea, I read the bad battery reviews and figured, "meh, I'll leave 'em in the cradle".

Boy was I wrong. The battery is HORRIBLE. Do NOT underestimate how bad they are.

Yes, the phones look cool, sound fine, good range. Impossible to display the time on them even though they timestamp your calls, go figure.

But the thing that makes them useless is the battery. Consider yourselves warned.

[+] 2.0 The worst phone
Bought this phone and in less than 3 months, the battery on one is dead and no matter how much you charge it, it does not recharge. Switched the battery from the other phone and still the same problem. Followed all instructions for charging and what a waste of money. Won't recommended this product to anyone.

[+] 10.0 So far so good
I did a lot of research on cordless phones when my less than 1-year-old Motorola started giving me terrible service and the batteries died much too quickly. (Why is it that Motorola makes such superb cell phones but not cordless ones?) In the end this one looked like it had the most positive reviews and the features I was looking for. I didn't really need a two handset system, as I live in a very small house and I'm not handicapped, but it seems most good cordless varieties come this way, so that was a small, negligible factor. It increases cost a bit and sure, it'd be nice to be able to buy just the main unit, but it's not enough to be a dealbreaker.

I've found so far that it's a great phone. I've had it for about five months or so. The battery is still pretty long-lived, and I can leave it off charge for quite a few days without a recharge. I don't talk for long periods of time for the most part, but the few lengthy uses have not run the battery down any faster than I would expect. I don't have caller ID so I can't speak to those features.

One of the main concerns I had was the keypad, and if dialing would be a challenge without spacing in between keys -- the keys are excellently seated and I have had no trouble using the keypad. It has outstanding volume even on speakerphone and my father, using his new phone for hearing impaired folks, hears me even better now with this phone. Between these two phones I don't even have to yell anymore. The blue backlighting is pleasant and easy to read, and the phone itself is really pretty stylish and modern. It's so thin and lightweight that it's a pleasure to hold (although a lot harder to put between your shoulder and chin if you have to use your hands!).

The answering machine is outstanding, and offers the number of calls, which was a major point in my decision to buy -- I'm amazed at how few phone/answering machines don't show the number of calls on the recording. Audio is crisp and clear, and buttons are all self-explanatory and programming is easy to figure out. Handset battery makes clear sounds that it is dying, even if you're on the phone (although the first time I used it at the end of the battery, it didn't for some reason, but subsequent uses at end of battery life were well-beeped).

My only issue is a good one, really -- it took some time getting used to, but the 6.0 sound is so clear and so static- or distortion-free that at times, if no one is talking, I think the phone has gone dead. It really freaked me out at first, thinking it had just died in the middle of an important conversation, but once you get used to the clarity, you won't want to go back to older cordless frequencies.

[+] 8.0 Works well as handset, not so well as speakerphone, no headset
I've had this for a few weeks now. Seems like a pretty good phone with two exceptions. First, I can not find any way to hook up a headset. That makes it very hard to use for conference calls where you want to roam the house hands-free. Second, the speakerphone works fine when conversing with just one person. However on work conference calls where other people are on speakerphone this phone fades in and out. That went away when I switched back to regular handset mode.

[+] 8.0 Liked it well enough to buy again
I've had this set for probably two years, first one that came out for DECT6.0 I think. My only complaint is the battery charge duration could be a little better. I had 3 other sets before this one, and all of them would sporadically screech or squeal, and had fair sound quality at best. That included a Motorola set that cost more. These handsets have good clear sound. I'm buying another because it seems the base took a power surge and just doesn't work right any longer. :(

[+] 8.0 Great Phones, A Little Weird Sometimes
These are great phones and generally work great. But every once in a while they will do some weird things.

Like sometimes I'll get a strange echo during the call...only from my end, not from the other end...like a digital delay kind of echo.

Also, sometimes I'll randomly discover that the little light that says "In Use" is lit up, but I'm not on the phone. So I'll check it, and I'm getting like a fax or digital signal coming through the line. I have to manually hang up (sometimes more than once) and turn it back on before I get a dial tone and can shut the phone off properly.

Very strange behavior. But, these issues are uncommon and infrequent, and definitely not enough to offset the great features and function of the phones. I recommend them; they just have some minor quirks.

[+] 2.0 Basic set, one-hour battery life - I returned it
After a few days of use I found this set to be worthless. While the product literature claims 8 hours of battery life, one of the phones ran out of battery after less one hour of talk (speaker).

I suggest that if you are planning to use these phones off the charger for more than a few minutes at a time, you look for something else.

What follows is the review I wrote BEFORE I became aware of the super-short battery life on these sets. Everything else that I wrote is still valid.
___________________________________________

This is a basic implementation of the relatively new (2005) DECT standard for cordless phones.

Some of the advantages of DECT 6.0 include:

- easier to implement multiple handsets sharing one phone jack connection via one common base (have it on a 5.8 GHz set as well)
- easier to implement intercom features between individual handsets (have it on a 5.8 GHz set as well)
- extended range, up to 300 feet
- low power consumption and, therefore, extended battery life
- better performance in areas experiencing heavy radio traffic
- not affected by Wi-Fi or Bluetooh signals (neither are the 5.8 MHz)

This specific set meets most basic expectations for a multiple-handset plus answering machine bundle but it does not go much further than that. After a couple of weeks of use, these are my observations, positives first:

+ I confirm that the DECT features, as I enumerated them above, are implemented. I can walk farther away without losing signal, there's no Wi-Fi disturbance and the intercom feature is avaialble.
+ Intercom use is easy.
+ The answering machine works as expected - up to 99 messages can be recorded.
+ Basic features we expect in a cordless phone are available: caller ID, call waiting, 3-way calling, mute, speaker.
+ It is easy to transfer a call information (name, phone number) directly into the directory.
+ 10 different ring tones are supported but, when set to 'high', because of the cheap internal speakers, just about every ring is VERY annoying.
+ Backlit keys.
+ Easy to use menus.

- The claim of '8 hour talk time' turns out to be somewhat exaggerated. With the speaker on, I can count for about 2 hours, possibly 2.5 hours of talk time with new batteries. This is probably due to the sets using some VERY small batteries.
- I agree with other reviewers observation that the shape of the handset is far from 'ergonomic'. I always use these sets with the speaker on so this is not an impediment to me.
- They lack headphone jacks. This is a MAJOR minus in my view. When I ordered this set I simply assumed that there will be phone jacks because most sets have them these days but I was wrong.
- They lack belt clips.
- The handsets speakers can be loud but the quality of sound is more of the 'strident' quality. I am trying to muffle it somehow by placing the set on a soft surface rather than directly on the desk and this softens the sound somehow.

When it comes to overall rating, I must consider the fact that this is a V-Tech set. V-Tech tends to imply 'inexpensive' but that usually translates into 'few frills' or 'not necessarily high end'. This is a set that I can use but, to my surprise, it's not superior to my old (2-3 years old) Motorola 5.8 MHz sets except maybe for the somewhat extended range. The lack of headphones support was a big disappointment and the quality of the speakers is a major negative too. The battery life, while in line with most other phones in this class does not come close to the manufacturer's claim of '8 hours'.

Since I am keeping this set and I find it marginally useful, I can not rate it as a one or a two-star product. Three stars seem to be fair. I will be using these phones when the Motorola sets need recharging - I work from home frequently and I sometimes spend the entire day in conference calls - but they are not likely to become my primary phones.

Note: I own the 3-phone set but, other than the extra phone, there shouldn't be any difference between the 2 bundles.

[+] 10.0 Slim, affordable, great performance
We've been using the Vtech 6125 for two months now with excellent results. For years I had been purchasing Panasonic cordless phones since they were always highly rated. However, the Panasonic phones, at best, lasted about two years before the keypads began to fail. This was not due to rough usage, they just weren't durable. So, I decided to try the Vtech brand.

The unique features of this Vtech system are the extremely slim, cell-phone like handsets. The base station also has a digital answering machine. The base station and handsets are nicely designed with solid buttons and attractive graphics. The handset keypads have blue backlighting when in use.

The speakerphone feature on all handsets is very useful and the Dect 6.0 technology has completely eliminated any static or noise no matter where the handsets are in the house. This is a huge improvement over our previous phones using 900MHz or 2.4GHz bands. Battery life has been excellent.

Overall, this Vtech product has proven durable and functional. The slim, low-profile design lends a contemporary, modern appearance to any setting compared to the bulky handsets from other manufacturers.
