All the Good Things Said about this Grill is True...
I have had a larger model of this before and, it was a good performer. But even in balmy Southern California chilly Spring nights effect its little sisters performance: so you must adjust for the conditions outside. Since the cast dome is made out of Aluminum, it acts as a heat sink and rapidly loses heat. But with my most recent purchase I found something unacceptable. The tray where the aluminum foil grease-catcher fits shipped as it came from the press (it's been drawn and trimmed) without any deburring at all. So the edges of the pan are extremely sharp. An inexperienced person trying to pull it from the groove in the bottom could slash a few fingers at a time. I am sure Weber will correct this when they realize quality assurance is off.
Other than that it's as it has been touted to be.

AWESOME LITTLE GRILL!!
About 15 years ago I was given a Kenmore Gas Grill as a Gift.. It failed the first cook out and the hose Caught Fire.. I was leery about using Gas Grills after that.. I was also a Die hard Charcoal Fan although the advantages to gas are obvious. I used the Grill for years as a Charcoal grill, It was big and bulky and I had to move it around etc.. It finally fell over one day and bit the dust..
One day I saw this little off brand Portable Chinese Propane Grill at a Drug store for $25.00 so thought I would give it a try not having anything to grill on.. It did fair at best, but was so small you could barely fit 6 burgers on it.. It used Lava Rock to diffuse the heat and absorb the drippings etc.. You had to move the food around to cook even etc.. I bought another one that was a little bigger months later again for $25.00 .. A Char Glow. It used a Flat Piece of metal with Louvers stamped in it to diffuse the heat and catch the drippings.. It did ok.......... When it would stay lite! The Slightest breeze would extinguish the burner.. You had to monitor it all the time and relight it constantly! Later I bought another Char Glow Grill this time for $65.00 It was bigger and better I thought.. It was like a Suit case.. I was certainly intrigued with the concept of being portable.. After getting it home and looking at it realized it was simply defective by design! There was no way this grill could ever heat evenly! I put gas to it just to see and after 15 minutes the grill was not even hot! I took it back the next day! The reason I mention all this is that there are some poor designed grills out there and you need check them out good..!
I had seen the Weber Q 100 at Lowes and Home Depot.. It had the Fold out trays which I didn't want and the electronic spark that needed batteries.. It was a little more then I really wanted to spend.. One store wanted $199.00 and the other $169.00 I decided to get on line and look around.
Coleman had an interesting portable Grill, but it's lid so shallow you could only cook low profile foods.. I wanted the option to cook Roasts or something bigger.. I went on Amazon and found the Q 100 with out the trays for $130.00 I read the reviews and they all seemed very positive.. Amazon also had a free Shipping deal going on so $130.00 Free shipping and no local tax, I decided to go for it..
I received the Grill within a week with no problems at all.. Unpacking the Weber Q 100 Grill it simply rang true you get what you pay for.. The Quality and Engineering of this grill is So far beyond what I was using and looking at!! Weber Grills have been around for Years and that Name Brand and Legacy of Grills has always been synonymous with Quality out door cooking products.. It certainly shows even in this little Grill! AND still American Made! Amen!
If you want a Bigger grill look at the Q200 as it is more of a full sized Grill, but I was sold on Compact and Portability with the Q100.. Don't let this Little Grill fool you! You can easily cook 8 Big Pork Chops or Hamburgers with no problem at all!
The main Feature about this Grill is the Cast Iron Grate and how it is designed to lay over the burner and conducts heat . It heats Evenly and can cook very quickly! The grate is rather heavy.. About 10#'s I am certainly intrigued with the Cast Iron Grate! Anyone that knows about Cast Iron Skillets will tell you it is all in the pan after it becomes seasoned.. The same should hold true for this grate!
There is no doubt in my mind that this is the best Grill I have ever owned or used! I LOVE IT!
The First few times I used it the wind was gusting 20-30 mph and it had no problem at all staying lite!! It cooked really quick and very even.. I have used it several times now and I am thrilled with how well it does! I like very much the idea to be able to through it in the car and head for a Park or Lake etc. It is an awesome little Grill!!!!
There are some good ideas in the reviews on here so read them.. I bought a 10# Tank and hose to use around the house, but use the 1# Cylinder to take to the Lake.. Also lining the bottom with foil is a good idea.. I would like to try to come up with an idea for a liquid stray for adding wood chips and or liquid smoke..

A Great Portable Grill
I have used this grill for a year and I love it. It's easy to start (just push the ignitor once when the the gas is on and the grill is lit), it's easy to clean, and it is portable (it will easily fit inside the trunk of a car). The grill uses a standard propane gas bottle and four large steaks will fit on the grilling surface. The grill is constructed of cast aluminum, which makes it is very sturdy, and it will take no longer than 15 minutes to cook your food. The Q-100 doesn't have the foldable shelves so you will have to purchase them separately, or buy the Q-200. Also when I bought the grill through Amazon I had to pay approximately $40.00 for shipping and handling. Never the less, this is a very nice grill for anyone who does not have a lot of space and enjoys grilling.

still going strong
no problems after three years of moderate use. this grill is kept outside covered by the Weber vinyl cover and supported on the Weber rolling cart year round.
I just bought this grill about 3 weeks ago and after about a week and a half the regulator quit. I have tried several online retailers and stores and no one has it in stock. All back ordered. Now I know Weber wouldn't do such a thing unless they're having an issue with this like Toyota is having with they're gas pedals. I'm a camper and I use this(used this) every day. Food just tastes a whole lot better from the grill. Look for another grill till they get this fixed.

Weber Portable Grill -
We bought the Weber Q-100 and the stand. This grill was perfect for parking lot cookouts. The unit heated up in record time and cooked the hot dogs and hamburgers better than what you would buy at the concession stand. When we shut it off, it did not take too long to cool down and was easy to assemble and disassemble. I would highly recommend this grill for any sports parents that want to do some tailgating.
Best grill ever. I get 6 1/3 pound Bubba Burgers on or 4 NY Stips. I use this all the time on my boat and cook 100% even from side to side and front to back. Now hat the winter months have come, I know use it im my garage. Lights everytime and Ihave had no problems. Very very easy to clean.

Weber Q-100 is the Best Little Grill on the Market!
If portability is paramount, and you want and need a grill that cooks quickly, evenly and adds great taste, look no further. This Weber grill delivers. However, there are a few things to learn about it that will make you a better Weber grill cook. First you must follow the instructions by preheating the grill for 10 minutes. The cast iron grates will be VERY hot and sear the meat with nice dark lines. Do not leave it on the first side for very long though. After it is seared and browned turn the meat over; this will prevent over cooking. Vegetables can be grilled on the sides, and around the outside, of the grates where the temperature is cooler.
The grill is relatively easy to clean, but I recommend (as others did) to line the belly below the grates with aluminum foil to facilitate quick clean-up. Be careful not to line the foil too close to the lighting element or you may have difficulty starting the grill.
I purchased my grill in early summer 2009. The one I bought does NOT have the 14oz. propane bottle bracket. I use 16oz. Coleman propane bottles ($2.xx each) when we travel and a 17lb. Blue Rhino with adapter hose and fuel gauge when at home. The 16oz. bottle lasts for about 4 meals when cooking for 4 people.
The only warning I have for you is that when you remove the grates from the grill be careful. With a full 16oz. propane bottle attached the grill will try to tip over backwards. I was startled and grabbed it in time before it fell. (I read somewhere that Weber originally put on the 14oz. bracket so that the 16oz. bottles could not be used thereby preventing tip-over. The public outcry was so great regarding the necessity to use the 14 oz. bottles that Weber removed the bracket on later versions of the grill.)
This grill is so efficient that I am at a loss when using my large charcoal grill. I have to learn how to grill the hard way all over again when entertaining and cooking for a crowd.
By the way, now is the best time to purchase this grill, because during the grilling season the price goes way up. Oh, the plastic trays that attach to the sides, and the nifty tools that fit into them for travel, are VERY convenient and helpful. I also bought the small Weber Q-100 cover for traveling with the grill. It covers the body of the unit to keep everything else traveling with it clean, and it is easy to put on, remove and wipe clean. I purchased the rolling cart also, and it has been a fantastic accessory. Perfect height for grilling, I use it at home and when traveling. For our porch I bought the full cover, made for the Q-200, to reach to the ground and protect the grill and stand from the weather. The full cover is not waterproof, but water resistant, so I wouldn't leave it out on an uncovered deck or patio.
Don't think about it too much. Just buy it and grill easy, fast, great-tasting food.

Great grill, and a cleaning tip
I've never been a big fan of grill cleaning brushes. The bristles seem to flatten pretty quickly, and then they don't get into the slots in the grating. This works better: Get yourself a medium-coarse rat tail (round) file that's skinny enough to fit into the slots. Run the gas until the gunk is dry & hard. Then, hold the grate over a trash can and just run the file back & forth in the slots. You do NOT have to add any force to the file, so it won't file away any actual metal. But, it will sort of shatter off the hardened gunk. Then, follow with a brush if necessary. Works like a charm.
By the way, this is a terrific little grill.

Great for grilling in winter
My husband loves to grill, though usually it's a summer activity. With this grill it's super easy to turn on with just a flick of a switch. I recommend getting the cover and stand, sold separately. Also recommend waiting to clean it until after it cools down, preferably right before you use it again (much easier). Comes with a nice "how to" booklet which he keeps handy. After having it for 2 years now and keeping it in the backyard during a snowy and rainy New England winter, it's held up nicely with no issues.
Very well built for a small compact grill BUT the adjustment for the flame does not allow you to bring the flame up high enough
I have had this grill for over 3 years now and it is great. Supper small and portable, and
heats up very quickly, plus the heavy grate makes a nice sear. One of the best grills I have used.
We've just used it a couple of times so far, but already are very pleased with this grill. The cleanup is so easy and the small size is very convenient to store. Best of all the even cooking makes for a great grill. The Amazon price was the best we found.

Poor Regulator Design
I have now owned two of these little "beauties" over the past three years. I love the size and the design, but the regulators on these things are junk! Both of the units I have owned worked beautifully in the beginning, and quickly deteriorated. After speaking to Weber support folks, I was told I was not lighting it correctly. "You have to leave the cylinder turned on for a minimum of 10 minutes before you light it." What the heck?? This did not work for me either. With most gas grills all you have to do is: 1) turn on gas. 2) light grill 3) cook the food) 4) enjoy ... Not so with this grill!
Perhaps others have experienced similar issues with their Weber Q's?

Love my little Weber
I purchased the grill, cart and cover. I live in a hurricane prone area of the country and my entire house is electric. After last years hurricane, and subsequent power loss (5 days), I decided I needed a back up plan.
I have not fired it up yet, but the assembly was easy and it is a wonderful space saver. If you have a small patio or deck this grill is perfect. Very sturdy. I will update my review once I use it.

Q 100 is an amazing grill
I've had this grill for about 8 months now and I am still blown away by how well it works in so many situations.
1. It so small it fits anywhere on my balcony without getting in the way.
2. Heats up in no more than 4-5 minutes.
3. With the attachment hose you can hook up a large propane tank.
4. Attach a small cylinder for portability. I used this to tailgate this past weekend and it was the easiest thing to transport and use.
Easily cleaned if you line it with foil.
I used to have a larger grill and I would have this over any larger grill. It can cook for 6 people easily.
AMAZING PRODUCT.
Well designed and built, great peformance and compact. I use it in my RV and it is definitely worth the money.

Much better than the gigantic stailess steel gas grills
Weber makes a great grill. I live in a condo community that doesn't allow large grills because of fire regulations. (Yeah, it was hard giving up my stainless steel super monster grill when I moved here). After searching and comparing portable grills online and with neighbors that own them, I decided on this one and I'm glad I did. In fact, if I had a house, I would still take this portable grill over it's big stainless steel brother. Food cooks fast and it cooks evenly, which is often a problem with the large grills. It heats up quickly and the small propane cylinder lasts a long, long time. The grilling surface cleans real easy with a steel brush and there is a neat little aluminum (disposable) pan underneath that catches grease runoff. I purchased the Weber 6507 Rolling Cart also, and highly recommend you take a look at it too. It makes it easy to cook, move around and store in the garage, and doesn't take up much space. This grill is built very well, is strong and maintains Weber's reputation for outstanding grilling products. We have a 3-person household, and the Q-100 is a perfect fit for our needs. You'll love it!
Excellent quality! Not cheap and flimsy like so many other small grills out there. This is well made. The grill plate is made of cast iron. I would recommend this to everyone looking for a smaller-than full-sized grill. Great for 2 people but I'm sure it would work for more. You can't beat this kind of quality.

Always count on a Weber!
Best portable grill ever! Came mostly put together :) Solidly built. Heavy grill surface heats evenly, cleans easily. Can tell it will last the rest of my camping & picnicking days - which should be 3 more decades. Will be getting the rolling stand for off road picnic sites. Cooked meat, fish, veggies equally well. Auto start was flawless in windy conditions.
My daughter's family gave this to me last year. It's fantastic to grill on, easy to start, no more charcoal, and much more compact than the big grills. So if you're a small family and/or want to take it with you to picnic, this is an easy to use and sturdy grill. I now need the rolling table, and I'll be styling.

Big surprise in a small package
Weber 386002 Q-100 Portable Gas Grill
We grill at least 5 times a week during the summer and half as often during the rest of the year. Prior to our Weber Q 100, we used a large Weber, which is a great grill but we rarely cook for more than 2 to 4 people. The Q-100 is a great solution. It cooks equally well as our large Weber but uses far less fuel. ( We purchased the adapter hose to connect the unit to a large tank.) The small footprint and light weight makes the grill very portable and easy to place on our deck.
Unlike our large Weber, the Q-100 does not have a built in temperature gauge so we initially had to had to guess the appropriate flame height and duration. The enclosed Grilling Guide helped.
Love it , perfect size. love the grill grates they are high quality , heats up fast cooks great. I tried a 16oz green propane tank , fit and worked great... I also got the 20 lb. propane cable too. All works great. Easy to to put together just a handle and a couple of screws so setup is easy and quick.

Excellent little grill!
I live alone, and didn't need a bigger grill. I also have limited space for winter storage, so the idea of a table-top grill appealed to me. Though this grill is more pricey than many table-top grills, I read reviews and did alot of research, and everyone was raving about this grill. I liked that it could be hooked up to a large gas tank (with the appropriate adapter hose) and that it could also be taken on a picnic with a small camping canister of gas. It also looks sleek, I think.
So, I bought the Q-100, and I'm VERY happy I did! It was easy to put together (just a few screws and bolts to attach the lid and handles) and attached the canister of gas, and I was cooking! The little instruction book gave estimated times for cooking various common grilled foods, which was helpful. One of the first nights I had it, I invited a friend over for burgers, and she raved about them.
The cast iron grate is heavy and leaves wonderful grill marks. The heat is distributed nicely. The bottom stays cool, so the surface you set it on doesn't heat up. It has sufficient surface space for grilling a half dozen burgers or steaks, easily, so will work well for small gatherings. Grilled zucchini was awesome on it!! And, it starts easily, preheats quickly, and is ready to go.... it makes cooking a snap on hot summer evenings. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

worth the price!
Great item. Cooks everything beautifully. Good instructions, helpful in determining correct timing and cooking temperatures of various items. Good for camping as well as backyard. Grill space allows enough for a family of four when making meats and vegetables.
Great grill! Easy to put together and works great surprisingly it holds more food than I thought. 6 large hamburgers or 8 medium. Just perfect for a small family or a couple. Don't waist you money on the model with the side tables. Not worth the 40 $ extra a cheap small side table is perfect to set things on while grilling.
We set our grill on a small table we picked up at Costo for less than half what Webber wants for the stand for this grill. I would recommend this grill to anyone.
Perfect size and I am so happy with the way it cooks so evenly. I was also pleasantly surprised that the food did not stick to the grates and I was worried that it would. This grill is good quality.

This Little Grill is Fabulous!
All I can do is echo and expand on the great comments from the other reviewers.
It starts every time, takes 5 minutes to heat up, and has a predictable flame.
It's nicer than normal consumer quality -- it looks professional grade. And I believe that it is made in the USA!
I cook 1/2" thick pork chops and 3/4" thick beef steaks for 3 minutes on each side on medium-high heat to get rare to medium rare. The meat is always incredibly juicy inside and has the required grate lines on the outside. If you marinate the meat before you grill, it gets even better. Weber includes a simple intro cookbook on it which is well written -- and works!
Buy the 6' propane tank adapter line and the extra disposable aluminum drip pans.
Thank you Amazon for bringing this fabulous toy to our attention.
American made and works great(I wish companies would post items made in America)! The outside cools quickly so I can put it in my shed. I clean the grill with a brush and a hose.

Tried to like, but will stay with charcoal
I really like the design of this grill and have had an eye on one for about a year now. I have enjoyed charcoal grilling for many years now and have become quite good at it. I decided to get a gas grill to have for those times when you need to grill quickly. I bought this unit last week and really like the looks and design. However, to me, it is like a George Foreman grill that uses propane gas instead of electric. The grate is cast iron and heavy, so this is how it cooks. I cooked hot dogs one day and they were burned even on low setting. The next day I cooked hamburgers. I was not impressed. It tasted like I cooked inside in a pan and you get that sour smell of meat cooked on a big mass of iron.
I cannot recommend. I will stay with a charcoal grill. It is cheap, simple and easy. The taste from charcoal cannot be replicated indoors.
Instead of this unit, you can buy a cheap flat iron griddle with raised ridges on it and cook on the stove. Much cheaper and it will be the exact same taste. Easier to clean up too. Grease gets everywhere on this Weber unit and I had ants all inside it the next day. At least my curiosity about gas grills is satisfied. Never again!

Nice starter grill
I have used this grill for a couple of weeks since we bought it and has worked great so far. We wanted a small grill for our patio and this fits perfectly. It was very easy to set up and we just bought a 20lb propane cylinder and a connecter pipe with a regulator and it was easy to hook them all up. The good thing about this grill is the cast iron grate versus a stainless steel grate you see in other grills in the similar price range.
Overall I would say that this was a good buy for the price we paid.
Small and relatively light. easy to carry around. the gas tanks are very easy to find and fit and cost just a couple of bucks at Walmart. The grill plate is easy to clean and of good quality.
So far, I have had great results with this. Fish, Chicken, Steak, Veggies all come out absolutly fantastic. Its relatively expensive in its class, but its money well spent. Highly recommended.

Great for couples or small groups
I really like the Weber Q-100. It's easy to put together, easy to operate, and uses the 16.4 oz disposable gas bottles. I also bought an adapter hose so I can cook with my big gas tank that my former full-size grill used. No problems at all there.
I like the Q-100 and I recommend it. However, there are two issues to be aware of, both of them minor in my view.
One, I find that the food gets done quickly. So quick, that if you aren't paying attention, your burgers, chops, etc., will be burned and dried out. So I just decrease the heat and cook only for about 3 or 4 minutes on each side. That seems to resolve the problem. The second issue is that the grate is a bit of a chore to clean -- and I do use cooking oil on it in the hope that food won't stick. Yet for me, it does. Cleanup is a bit more labor intensive than I'd like, but not enough where I wouldn't continue using the grill. I like it a lot, and its portability is a definite plus for times when you want to have an old-fashioned cookout in the park.

Wonderful grill!
This grill delivers a lot for its size! I absolutely love it. Instead of replacing my old cooker with another large item, I decided to try this table top. Am I glad that I did. It takes up little room on my deck, will be easy to store this winter, and we use it all the time. I don't have to drag large, heavy propane tanks home anymore!
Dispite contacting Weber customer service, reading the in store specification guide, reading the actual Owner's Manual out of the box, all telling you that this grill accepts the 16.4 oz tank, IT DOES NOT. Weber said it must be a "manufacturer defect". Then they sent email stating 2008 models or newer would take tank. Then received another email saying 2009 models or later. Apparently no one at Weber knows anything. Returned the grill. Ending up trying to attach 16.4 oz tank on three other Q-100's and of course, it would not fit on any of them. BIG WASTE OF TIME. DOES NOT TAKE 16.4 OZ TANK.

A Product That Delivers ...
What a thrill, buying an item that really delivers and exceeds expectations.
I bought this item based on the previous good experiences with Weber. Unlike the outstanding Weber kettle grills, the Baby Q is made of cast iron. I have no doubt that this product will outlive me. I considered the 100, 200 and 300 series. Seeking simplicity, I narrowed it down to the 100 series, and later opted for the 100 without the fold out tables. I am delighted with my decision as the tables cannot be folded in until the Q is completely cool and then they are folded over the grill.
I have one quibble as the assembly instructions are only in illustrations, no text. At the same time, the assembly was a snap and this item went together in minutes.
This Q, paired with the equally good Weber cover is a solid choice for great BBQ. I can recommend this item without qualification.

Love this Grill, But buy a tank
I bought this grill two months ago. It is amazing fast to heat up, compact size with a good size grilling surface, and very heavy duty, unlike some portable grills I looked at. I tried it with a disposable propane tank, but didn't like that because of the waste, cost, and inability to turn the gas even lower than the grill itself allows. The grill sits very low on the burners, making the food cook a bit faster than I wanted. I bought a small Manchester refillable 5 pound propane tank which allows me to adjust the gas pressure. SO...this grill, outfitted with an adjustable tank, is PERFECT.
I had my eyes on this portable gas grill from Weber for quite some time and finally purchased it. I spend a lot of time on the lake with friends so this product comes in very handy. It is easy to assemble (just a few parts to connect), is well built, and cleans pretty easily. I also like the fact that it will accept multiple sizes of propane containers, including the larger 16.4 ounce containers. It's somewhat lightweight and easy to transport. I purchased a cover for it also and keep it in my garage when its not in use. This grill may cost a little more than some of the competitors, but you get what you pay for. I think you'll enjoy this grill for a long time to come.
The last grill we had was a Sunbeam - the small red one that tons of RVers used. When it died after six years we couldn't get another one because they are no longer manufactured (as far as I can determine).
A friend recommended Weber grills and we bought the Weber Q-100. It has to be small since we live in our motor home and space is limited.
I was extremely impressed with the construction. It's all metal except for the temperature adjustment knob. The grill surface appears to be made of cast iron and should last longer than I will.
After using it a few times I am still very impressed. It cooks evenly and has yet to blow out even on a very low setting.
It gets super hot on high so you can sear meat and then turn it down to finish cooking.
Based on the way it is constructed I don't think I will ever have to buy another grill, but if I do it will be a Weber.
This is a fabulous grill. It starts w/ a pushbutton, gets hot enough in less than 10 min. I put a tin foil pan in the drip tray so I only have to throw it away when it is filled. The grate is easy enough to clean, just put it in the dishwasher or soak it in the sink. I also hooked it up to a big gas tank - make sure you get the adaptor. I don't even use my big grill anymore. The cooking surface on this is all useable. I cook on this grill every day, sometimes twice a day in all seasons. I recommend this grill.

Can't say enough good things...
I bought this grill to bring to the Dominican Republic. Appliances are very expensive there, and a good grill is hard to find there, at any price. I wanted something I could bring on the plane. They wouldn't let me carry it on, but I was able to check it. I packed the lid seperately from the base, wrapped some clothes and a couple of beach towels around it, in a large duffel, put cardboard around the grill surface so the cast wouldn't crack, and it held up perfectly in transit.
I read the reviews before purchasing this, and they were extremely helpful. Many thanks to the guy that suggested getting the Freedom Adapter Hose. Other reviewers said that squirrels ate their Weber adapter hose. (Do yourself a favor and read all of the reviews- they're very entertaining). While squirrels are not a problem in the DR, this hose is not only very well made, it adapted perfectly to the propane tanks in DR.
Other reviewers said they had issues with wind. I can tell you that I used it during strong wind and heavy rain and had absolutely no problem with the flame going out. I also read that people found it cooked things too quickly, so I watched it carefully, the first time I used it. Not a problem. No different than my big grill in the states. Also, I cooked for four people and there was plenty of grill space.
This is probably one of the best purchases I've ever made. I would buy another one, in a heartbeat. When I bought it, I paid $125.00. If you have time, I would suggest putting it in your cart and watching the price, as it will fluctuate.
