[+] 8.0 A good controller for two handed games
The nunchuck is easy to set up. Simply plug it into the base of the Wii remote and you're ready to go.
The nunchuck is used in games where you'll find yourself having to move your character around. The nunchuck has a control stick, It also has a C button and Z button that can be used in many games.
The nunchuck doesn't take batteries. However, it should be noted that the nunchuck attachment will drain the batteries in your wii remote faster.

[+] 10.0 Excellent product!
Excellent product. Maybe because it's wired it can turn a little bit uncomfortable, but it's always a good idea to have 2 or 3 of these, so you can play certain multiplayer games.

[+] 10.0 "Industry Standard"; ignore at your peril.
Boring it may be, but to have this standard Nunchuck means that you and your friends can enjoy the games without being distracted by different locations of buttons, etc.
So, the wire can be a problem; but it does stop the Nunchuck from being lost/separated, and saves on another set of batteries.
And, being the standard item, you can get all sorts of cool skins for it.

Just wonder why the Wiimote requires a big rubber protective buffer, and this has nothing?

[+] 10.0 If you're going to buy an extra Wii Remote, this is an absolute must-have!
In case you are unfamiliar with the Nunchuk, it is an accessory that simply plugs into the bottom of any Wii Remote. You may have seen Nintendo saying things like "with the Wii Remote, to hit a tennis ball, simply swing the Wii Remote". This is true for some games, for many others, it is not that simple.

How would one play a game like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess without a Nunchuk? How would you control your character and swing your sword? Would you simply use the + control pad (on top of the Wii Remote) to move your character, and when you get some action, start swinging? How would you move around while in combat? Why am I asking so many questions?

This is where the the Nunchuk adds depth and variety to games like Zelda. The Nunchuk has two buttons (Z and C) and an Analog Stick. In Zelda, the Analog Stick is used for character movement, the Z button is for aiming, and the C button is used to look around. Some games use them (Zelda, Metroid Prime 3 etc.) and some don't (Boxing in Wii Sports... I think that's it). But the most innovative feature of the Nunchuk isn't ON the Nunchuck, but rather IN it.

It has a built-in accelerometer, which in human terms, means that it shares some of the motion-sensing abilities with the Wii Remote. What kind of motion-sensiing abilites you may ask? I'll give some examples.

When you shake the Nunchuk in Zelda, you do a spin-attack. When you "punch" with it in Boxing (included in Wii Sports), you punch the character you are fighting against. It may not have the pointing abilites of the Wii Remote, but it shares the core motion-sensing abilites, which it also shares with products like the iPhone and SIXAXIS PS3 controller.

To summarize, the Nunchuk attachment isn't only a cool add-on for the Wii Remote, but it is a neccessary add-on for the Wii Remote. It will set you back around $20, but it is better to buy it now than hear your kids endlessly nag you about it. They are very durable, very innovative, and very fun.

[+] 4.0 seemed OK
I bought this to enable 2 people to play the boxing game. Unfortunately one controler is a bit better than the other (more responsive), so there is always an argument as to who gets the "good one".

[+] 10.0 Simply, a MUST HAVE!
The bottom line is that if you own a Wii, you should have one nunchuk for every Wii remote. Not every Wii game requires a nunchuk, but you don't want to be stuck with out it when a game comes along that offers greater precision and control through use of the nunchuk.

In general, the control stick on the nunchuk will allow you to control your on-screen character (ex. Mario Galaxy). However, because the nunchuk also features motion sensitive controls it can serve as your left hand in games such as boxing.

Wii is very enjoyable with just a Wii remote, but if you intend to get the most out of your Wii, make sure to have 4 Nunchuks and 4 Wii Remotes!

[+] 8.0 Standard Accessory
This is a Wii nunchuk controller. Some Wii games require a nunchuk controller. If you buy a second controller, you should also buy a second nunchuk. In my experience, you do not need a nunchuk for the third or fourth controllers.

Like other Nintendo Wii products, this controller is well-made and works well with the system most of the time.

[+] 8.0 What is this? A game?
I decided to buy this Wii Nunchuk because my son said he wanted one. It had a low price, so I went for it. When I got it, I noticed that the nunchuck is made of plastic and has this knob-like button thing on it that sticks out. The chain is made of plastic, and is way too long. Plus, you get only one side. I can't see how this could ever be of use in a fight. It's not balanced, there is nothing to hold when you go to hit somebody with it, and I don't think that plastic cable would hold up very long.

It turns out that the plastic cable plugs into a Wii remote control. Still, it's a far cry from a real nunchuck. The remote is way out of balance with their nunchuck, and with that extra long cord, it's useless in a fight, or even for practice. I'd recommend going to a good martial arts store and getting a traditional pair made of wood with a good steel chain.

I ended up letting my son use it as something to play with since I couldn't think of anything else to do with it. To my surprise, he likes it. The Wii somehow knows when he is shaking that thing, and that useless knob thingy actually becomes useful. So I figured I shouldn't be so hard on the product since kids can really have fun with it.

From what I gather from my son, it adds value to the game and makes playing with the Wii more enjoyable. I found out that some games are better suited to this than they are to the remote control alone, and the action of this thing fits in smoothly with playing the game. My son told me that he thought the everybody with a Wii should get one. Go figure.

So I'd have to say that the bottom line is that this is pretty useless for real martial arts, but is a "must have" item for playing some games. I decided to rate the thing based just on the game part, because for martial arts, I'd have to give it zero stars. My daughter says it doesn't deserve 5 stars because they should have included one with every remote, but I couldn't get either of the kids to name anything they don't like about it when using it.

[+] 8.0 Why 2 controlers for the Wii?
Everyone knows why the Nintendo Wii is so different and that is mostly due to having to stand up and play and not just sit on the couch. I don't use the nunchuk very often, but when you do it's a lot different using both hands to play a boxing game and it's pretty realistic to throw punches with both hands, cause that's the way boxing games should be played.

[+] 10.0 Nunchuks needed!
The Wii nunchuk controller is necessary for many games, as well as for the boxing in Wii Sports. I needed the extra one since 2 kids are sharing the Wii and often compete against each other - lots of fun and the kids aren't just sitting there on the couch. A good investment!

[+] 8.0 Nifty, but feels unfinished
The nunchuk controller is a unique way to play games. It's disconcerting at first to have your hands apart, rather than hanging onto a controller and operating two thumbsticks. But then it rocks, especially in games like Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. The accelerometers inside the nunchuk make it more than just a one-handed thumbstick. You can toss it forward and yank it back to pull objects in the game. Super-freaking cool.

My only complaint about the nunchuk is that it feels unfinished, sort of plain. It's just a smooth hunk of molded plastic. There's not even a Wii logo. It seems almost like a prototype. It sounds stupid, perhaps, but it needs a bit more flair. Maybe a "grippy" surface or something.

But... it does what it's supposed to do and does it well.

[+] 10.0 Wii Nunchuck
A often used add-on the the Wii-Mote, but not totally needed. Many games do not use the Nunchuck, so I recomend only buying a second one, you usually don't need to buy one for every Wii-Mote and i've found have 2 of them is good, but don't need 4 (one for each wii-mote). Unless of course you're favorite 4 player game requires them, but the games I play that use it are only 1 or 2 players, or can be played without it.

[+] 4.0 Cheap and Flimsy, but necessary
One of these comes with the Wii system. It is needed if you are going to play any real games, except for a few rare exceptions, like Super Paper Mario. There isn't too much need for a second one, unless you are a hardcore multiplayer person.

Although this adds the ability to move a character around, and lots of other fun stuff, it was poorly designed.

First of all, you'd think Nintendo would have figured out by now how to make a quality control stick that doesn't loosen up. Nope. The analog stick on the Nunchuk has N64-esque loosening problem. After only a month, that piece of crap was already loosening in the up direction.

Secondly, The padding on the stick is so frail, that at first it became orange (just from finger oils), then it started to peel off around the edges.

Third, I really wish there wasn't a cord. It just takes away from the whole unique gameplay experience. I heard Nyko is making a wireless Nunchuk. That's a pretty good idea in my opinion.

Last, but not least, It should have had some sort of ridge(s) to prevent it from sliding upwards out of your hand. But in intense gameplay, you often find yourself repositioning your left hand way too much.

The positioning of the buttons is okay I guess, but the Z button doesn't feel very satisfying when you press it, like there's just a little switch in the middle of it, and the button is enlarged to compensate, but that's a little nitpicky I suppose, It doesn't matter.

All in all, I just wish Nintendo would have thought a little bit more about the quality of this thing, and learned from past mistakes.

I do recommend it if your first is getting too worn out for you (likely), as it's not very expensive. With the Nunchuk, you really get what you pay for, and nothing more.

Sorry for the title, but I couldn't avoid it. I really recommend to Wii owners to buy one of this controller for every Wiimote you have, since there are fun games that need it like Rayman Raving Rabbits game series.

This controller makes more enjoyable your experience on video games that require it and some times easier.

The only thing I don't like it is the cord, since some movements can make it hit at your face, like a mini game on RRR about jumping moving both controllers, you have to be careful and hold the cord to avoid any injuries.
