What A great price! I have told all my friends on Xbox Live about this deal. I think I am going to buy another just to have when my subscription runs out in 13 months. This is a must have for any gamer.

Some of the negative reviews complain about scratching too hard and losing the code and therefore their money. Those reviews are for an older generation of this card; the one I got (11/2008) has a tear-off piece of paper to reveal the code. Entering the code online was a snap.

I got the gold membership because it enhances my NetFlix subscription. The new Netflix/Xbox Gold feature lets users of both watch (most) Netflix instant streaming movies on their Xbox. The video quality has so far been excellent (even on the large screen); better than what I've seen on laptops. I'm looking forward to HD streaming but none of the 300 (so far) titles had any appeal to me.

Update: Turns out Netflix allows unlimited streaming for most of its plans. Their $8.99 plan gives one DVD at a time and unlimited streaming via PC and/or XBox. Streaming experiences have so far been excellent.

I've been on live since day one, my kids love it and I love it, this is just too much fun.

For those of you who don't know what this is, this membership allows you to play online against other people, you can add players to your friends list or if you have friends with a live account, you can add them too. This will make your gaming experience that much better since there's no A.I. that compares or even comes close to playing against real people.

For those of you who have a Netflix account, now you can stream a good number of movies directly to your Xbox 360 and watch them on TV.

If you like competitive gaming, this is a must have!

The first thing people usually say when they find out you need to pay to online game with other people on Xbox Live is, "What?! Its not free?"
Honestly, 40 - 50 dollars a year is hardly anything. That is less than 5 dollars a month, which equates to about one less Taco Bell stop per month.
Xbox Live is where it's at. Having played on both, Xbox Live is far superior to Playstation's network, for a few reasons. First of all, since Microsoft is getting 50 dollars a year from subscibers, that means the connections, servers, etc. tend to work really well with all that influx of cash. Second of all, the individuals who use Xbox Live are more likely to be gamers, not just some socially inept individual who decided to make a free account just to screw with people. Thirdly, because Xbox Live is a paying service, users tend to not be overly vile or rude, because they can be reported and thus lose their privilages.

Sorry I focused on the negative side of the positives. Bottom line, it is a great bargain; and if you own an Xbox 360 and do not have Xbox Live, then you are not tapping into all the capabilities of your system.

Just a quick question, because this is very cheap, does this card work in Europe??? I have tried it once with Xbox live points and it did not work.

For $11 less than anywhere else that I have found, why would anyone go somewhere besides Amazon? Well if you can afford the $50 for this card you are only paying a little over $4 a month which is a great deal. But if you are like me and can't afford this card then you can always go with the month to month for $8 a month which is double the price but if you don't have $50 up front then its not too bad. But just having Xbox live gold membership is a great benefit and is truly the best online mode for a game system.

When I bought my xbox 360 it came with a free 3 month xbox live subscription. That was due to expire so I needed to continue my xbox live subscription. This was a great price and now I don't have to worry about not being able to access all the great things going on with xbox live.

I'm a huge supporter of Xbox Live, and the deal Amazon runs for it is usually the best around. Whether it be arcade games, MMORPGs, indy games, FPSs, or classic Xbox titles, you can find it all on Xbox live. Come mid-November 2008, the experience will be even cooler with the addition of avatars and a movie-streaming venture with NetFlix. (this is one of the main reasons I got Live) It's affordable and it's got something for everyone. If you have a good internet connection, and you have an Xbox360, there's no reason to be without it.

Easy to follow steps and the number on card was visible, the card is not a scratch off, you just remove a piece of it, and the number is there for you to use. It arrived, and in perfect shape, but Amazon predicted that it would take 4 weeks to ship, when it actually shipped in 1 day. However, their sites estimated date did not change, and I got it at a totally unexpected time - ended up talking to an Amazon rep, simply to find out that their dates were completely wrong - after all, I needed something soon, not in a month and a half (with shipping estimated at two weeks). Either order this a while out so that you have time in case it takes a while, or simply pay the extra and buy it in a brick store to avoid the hassle.

This is really awesome. Xbox Live's service is top notch. It makes online gaming so easy, and so simple to use. The price here at Amazon is great too. It is $11 cheaper (even more if you count the tax you'd normally pay at the store or online), and you still get all the service, as well as an extra month. This is a really great buy.

I am a die hard Xbox 360 fan. I play an average of 20 hours a week. And that is mostly weekend time. I also work 40 hours a week and cook dinner every night for my wife. So I'm not just some kid that stays home and plays video games all the time. Amazon, like usual has the best prices anywhere. Especially for the Gold Card subscription. You get one month free so it's even a better deal. And don't listen to the people that gave it a one star review because they scratched to hard and rubbed off the numbers. On the card I received, it had a pull tab that was easy to use and I was clearly able to read the numbers without scratching anything off. So until someone beats this price, which I doubt, I'm always going to renew my subscription by buying it from Amazon.

I like this because I bought 12 months and got one free. It is a good member ship and I dont have to worrie for over a year to re new it.. I recommend it very much.

If you can get this for under $49.99 then it is a great value. You can't find this on sale much in the local store. It is a better value than renewing online since you get the extra month free with the card code (13 months for the price of 12). Make sure you put the code in online a little before your current subscription expires so that it will become effective on the day your subscription expires. Great Value!!

I spent quite a bit of time reading the reviews for this Gold Card. The single biggest problem I read about was how people needed to scratch off the back of the card to access the 25-digit code needed to activat it. If a person scratched too hard, the code became unreadable and the card was no good. There was supposibly no way retrieve the numbers once they were illegible. When my card arrived, I was expecting to have to go through this process. But to my plesant surprise, all I had to do was PEEL BACK a piece of perferated strip from the back of the card. No scratching involved at all. Maybe due to so many complaints, they decided to fix the problem and make it easier. Who knows, but at least I did not distroy the card or scratch so hard the numbers became unreadable.

Another concern I had was WHEN to use this card. I only used about 1 week of my "Free One Month Gold Membership" that came with my new X-Box 360. Should I risk renewing now and possibly loosing my remaining 3 "free" weeks included in my month long trial? Or should I wait until the free month is almost over and use my card then? I have read that if you let your month expire, all the stuff you have accumilated on that user profile is gone. You will have to start over from scratch. I decided to take a chance and use my card the next day. After I followed the simple instruction on my card, and entered the 25-digit code on my 360, I got an email from the email address I used to register with. It stated that I had extened my memberhsip until October 15 of 2009. Since my origional membership WOULD HAVE expired on September 15, and the card I purchased was for 13 Months, that would put me at October 15, 2009. So for anybody who is worried that the Gold Membership will not let your trial month "run out" before it activates, dont worry about it. You wont loose any time. It will run concurrently with your free month, or any membership you already have, before it activates.

The only other complaint I have seen in regards to this card is how long it takes to recieve it from Amazon. This I cannot really help with because I use Amazon Prime. I spend enough money with Amazon, and do enough of my shopping through them, that Amazon Prime is just about the only way to go for me. Expecially since I live in a rural area and do not have alot of the electronic stores or discount outlets you would normally find in larger cities. I can tell you this: It took me 4 days to get my card. Normally Amazon Prime has everything at my doorstep within 2 days. I was not too worried becasue I still had 3 weeks left on my trial membership. But if I did NOT use Amazon Prime, or if I only had a couple days left before my membership expired, I might have considered purchasing it locally for the extra money. So my advice is to either buy early and expect the longer than usual delays, or go Prime and get it within 4 days.

With the price of this card being about 10 dollars cheaper then Wal-Mart, and also giving you the extra month for free, this card is definately worth the money. ANYBODY who already has Amazon Prime would be a fool to buy this card at the store. If you DONT have Prime, and your membership will expire soon, maybe it would be better to get it at your local store and eat the difference in price. But for me and MY experience, I could not have asked for a easier time. That is why I am giving this review 5 Gold Stars. I hope this review helps.

Xbox LIVE is by far the best online gaming service available. The interface is smooth, and hooking up with friends to play is a breeze. My only real complaint is the number of 13 year old without a filter.

Hi, I purchased this gold card for my bf's xbox elite gaming system and he was very pleased that he was able to go right from the box to getting online and playing. My one complaint is that if you have a goldcard and you buy the elite which comes with a 30 day free membership also, you should use the free memebership first. Which isnt a problem but they should tell you. Its just a hassle once you have created your profile, you have to redo the process. Thats my only complaint. He had no problems using the card and is very pleased with the service.

Well, it's kinda hard to review something like this because you really can't go wrong. You just enter the code and boom...you're online for 13 months. Xbox Live is awesome, it brings gaming to another level. I usually prefer to game online and play against real people as opposed to computer. Amazon usually sells this cheaper than other places. To me it's a "must have" for Xbox gamers.

This card was shipped to me from Lexington, KY on 6/10/08. The packaging was different from the picture for this item. It's now a brighter orange and it's reading "12 + 1 Bonus Month Gold Subscription" on the background paper. The card itself is silver and it has two logos on it: "Games for Windows (R)" and XBOX 360 under a big orange "LIVE" in the center. The card is made of cardboard and instead of scratching the silver coating, you need to tear a perforated part of the card to reveal the code underneath. Pretty easy and safe and no scratching off the code as some people have complained. I guess they have realized that people were having problems with scratching cards and that's the reason for a design change. I entered the code in [...] and got 13 months of XBOX Live so the bonus month works as well.

This is the best price on a great service. People complain that Live costs too much, but for less than $4 a month, I can't see any reason why anyone with an Xbox does not play online.

The Xbox live service is second to none in terms of console gaming. The issue is this: You are forced into a windows live stinky hotmail account to use Xbox live. Another Microsoft bully BS sceme to force people into their crappy products/programs they could care less for. I use MAC now, ditched windows and even before dumping Vista I gave Windows Live Messenger/Windows Live the boot and switched to Yahoo and Gmail. So much better and it works. I hate Windows Live and I hate being forced to keep my WL account active just to be able to play Xbox live it sucks! I hope microsoft goes out of the computing business and just makes Xbox consoles.

If your like me, and you get bored once you play through a game. Even if you can earn some special skills and re-use em through the game; You still get bored. You want something that is constantly different and changing.

Well Xboxlive is for you then. You get four zones to choose from. Recreation, Pro, Family, and Underground. So you can choose what type of player you want to be; and the category you will be in so your matched up against the same type player. It's all very user friendly.

It's very easy to setup up. All very straight forward, all you need is a broadband connection. I have a 3meg down and 384k up connection(Although I only seem to get 2 meg down). (Boo windstream j/k) anyways, seems to work fine for the most part. Of course latency can be an issue, but this all depends on your ISP.

Well worth the money. Also if your going to get this, you may as well get a router. Make sure you get one that is Xboxlive compliant, so you can plug and go, with no NAT problems.

I have a router that is not friendly toward my Xbox360/live and causes some difficulties with the NAT no matter what I do. so to keep from having to switch your broadband connection back and fourth between your PC and Xbox 360 (It gets old) and you have no NAT problems, get an xboxlive compliant router. (There seems to be a lot, probably find a good deal here on amazon)
